OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

So I pulled out my suitcases with the intentions of passing some time by starting to get organized for my trip in 17 days.
I stood there by the suitcase and thought to myself " I wonder what's happening on the YC/BC thread?:rolleyes1
Suitcases are upstairs and I am comfortably planted in my comfy chair with the laptop :lmao:

We just switched from the GF to the YC CL. Although I am sad to leave my beloved GF I am very excited about staying at our second beloved YC again. 16 days to go.:cheer2::woohoo::cheer2:

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone has any info on the laundry situation at BC. It looks like there are 2 washers and 4 dryers. Is that correct? How busy does it get? Is there usually a long wait for the machines? Is there a better time to try to go when it is usually less busy? Is it open 24 hours, or does it close? Wow, that's a lot of questions!

I know I will be needing to do a couple loads at some point during our stay, so I was hoping someone could clue me in on these details. Thanks!:)

We are leaving to begin our 2 day drive to the BC in exactly one week from today! So excited.

I always do laundry at BC. It memory serves me correctly there were 4 washers and 8 dryers in the laundry room by the quiet pool. It can be quite busy and I've found that doing laundry at odd hours is the best solution. They are open 24 hours a day and I've been known to go down at 5 AM so that I could get it all done before waking the kids up to hit the parks.

Nobody was ever there at 5 AM besides me!

Thanks for thinking about me. My feet don't hurt at all. The pain usually starts around 3 hours after I start work. Even on Mondays, after being on my feet all day Sunday, I'm good for the first 3 hours and then it really gets bad.

I'm hoping tomorrow might be better ... maybe the shot had a chance to work and I'll be good all day long. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Keeping my fingers crossed.
Now make sure you take it easy today!!!!

I think you'll end up liking the rooms though. Who knows, you might actually like the "dark side". :lmao:

Off topic but I was wondering how you were making out with your plans for next year's Magical Gathering!!!

I planned the one we gave the kids in 2008 and it was exhausting!

Hopefully it will be in July so you can be back at the Mini Dis Meet - we'll miss you this year.

Thanks so much for the info. I'm sure I will find some time to do a couple of loads, though I doubt it will be at 5 AM!

Thanks again.:)

Teena: We may be there when your there in August. You probably know this but a first haircut is fabulous at the Barber shop. We did this when my daughter was two. She got a trim pink mouse hat that says my first haircut. a certificate and the saved her hair in i nice wrapped up pouch. The they put it up put in pink stripes and put Cinderella confetti on it. My daughter was so excited. Just though you may want to do that with Lilly when she needs a haircut. It was about $14 but that was 6 years ago.

Walking at Disney actually helped my feet get better but I did stop wearing clogs and flip flops except for when we are at the pool.

Hope to see you in August.

DisneyMomx7, Feckless, WsPrincess and / or Pixarmom: Did you guys do all of your arranging for your in-room surprises with IPO via email?

Since we'll be down there for MNSSHP, you guys are getting me all excited at the prospect of doing something Halloweeny in-room.

General Question Re: Yachtsman Steakhouse...

Has anyone ever ordered take-out from here? I made the mistake of reading the dessert menu; the Peanut Butter and Pretzel Gianduja Cake has my name written all over it.

I haven't done this, but I just wanted to let you know that there are some great pictures of food, candy and other gifts available at the Beach Club Marketplace, interestingly enough in the Marketplace thread on page 1.

I believe pixarmom took the pictures at the request of Disneymomx7 (and me) as she was planning gift baskets.

Does anyone know whether or not the BC Marketplace sells plain packaged yogurt (i.e. Yoplait, Chobani) and, if so, how expensive it is? We would prefer these to sugary yogurt parfaits, but I did not see any mention of them on the Marketplace thread.

Thanks! :)

:)

Oh my gosh, I just saw this!! I read YCFAN's post first, don't know how that happened! THANK YOU!! This is the exact answer/post I was looking for....who do I have to pay to get this room????? It's awesome!!! Great view, close to lobby/elevator/lounge, and away from SAB...Perfect (at least to me):)

We had the room that is second from the left on the 5th floor - the view was amazing.

That room was a big part of the reason we became Beach Club lovers! I went on that first trip thinking that it was going to be our "big, once in a lifetime Disney trip", but it has now become an annual trip! :)

That's what I thought. I even called my TR a "BC Trip of a Lifetime". But I'm already planning to go back in 2014! :goodvibes

I did the arranging, but consulted with IPO as I was going through it to make sure that what I was asking was something that they could do. They were willing to get me anything that could be bought on property for the baskets.

New installment posted to my trip report.

I've been going back and forth on whether to use Disneyflorist or not, but this sounds much better. How did you contact the IPO? We have reservations club level at BC & I can never get an answer when I call the phone number listed on the emails. The only way I've been able to communicate with BC IPO is thru email. When we stayed club level at the Poly I never had that problem, so I'm not sure why I can't get thru.

I did everything through email (that is how I do things best). I did have to call to give them the credit card to use but everything else was through email. I basically came up with what I wanted and I just asked them if it was OK and if it was something they could help with. Everything has been no problem. I am not doing too much this trip but they have been so great. Overall more helpful than the CR IPO but I might not have known what to ask for from them and with BC IPO I had the ideas before talking to them if that makes sense

We also did the first haircut with DS last year and it was AMAZING. He had the best time and it was so cute! We also got the certificate, the wrapped hair and his first haircut ears!! Loved it

Teena--I hope your feet are OK tomorrow. Only 1 more week until we are there at BC with you!:cool1:

We all been thinking about you Teena. :grouphug: Sure hoping your foot gets better.

Have you ever done the frozen water bottle? Freeze the water/soda bottle and roll under your foot. Thinking this may help if you could do it on break.

Really looking forward to seeing you next Monday. I was afraid they would change you to the Sat/Sun before we got there and we would miss you. (Your trip is the following week right?) Our plan is to travel down late next Sunday then check in bright and early Monday morning!

I just called Jeanne and said maybe we can have Princess Lily's first haircut when they are here in early August. She'll be 13 months old and her hair is crazy ... sort of looks like she stuck her hand in an electric outlet. It's real flimsy and long in some places, short in others and just pretty much sticks out everywhere. Perhaps her "first trim" will happen at MK!!!

This time in two weeks we'll be in Colorado starting our dude ranch adventure. I've already started packing. I can pack for a cruise in 30 minutes. However, this dude ranch has me really thinking. Cold nights so flannel pjs, we have to bring flash lights since its lights out at a certain time (they run everything on generators apparently). Gotta figure out where my boots are hiding too. Maybe two weekends off from work will help my heel!!

I've done the frozen water bottle here. That's a good idea though ... I'll take one to work and try it during my break. Thanks.

No word on the "switch" yet. So I'll be there this Sunday and Monday and next Sunday and Monday, then off the following two weekends. I could technically work that last Monday but I don't get home from the dude ranch on the 1st until midnight and by the time I get home from the airport and to sleep, I decided I better take off that Monday too. I might be working July 4th ... I told them I could if Richard wants off.

Ok. Y'all will understand.
My son is getting married next Saturday evening. I'm the best man. Around 425 had RSVP'd as of last week. 'Only' 80 expected at rehearsal dinner. As father of the groom I have been told it is up to me to give the toast/introduction at the dinner....How does this sound?

"OK folks. Let's get this over with. This ceremony is all that's standing between me and a week at the Beach Club!"
