They say 'everything old is new again'. Pertaining to beauty it means some of those horrible old fashions might be rearing their ugly heads again! What fashion faux pas do you hope NEVER makes a comeback.
I grew up in the 80s so I'll say almost the whole decade... but in the 90s everyone I knew all wore the brown "toast of NY" lipstick. Looking back it looks so nasty! I remember leaving such vivid lip prints on anything and anyone.

Another 80s child here, too.

Things I never want to see worn again:

Members Only jackets
leg warmers (I've started seeing these again - please, NO!)
puffball bangs
Z-Cavaricci pants/shorts worn with boat shoes (sans socks, of course)
jeans tight rolled at the ankles
skirts/dresses over footless leggings with flats
parachute pants
the aforementioned shoulder pads

The 80s were simply an unfortunate decade for fashion all the way 'round.

you forgot stirrup pants. remember wearing those with the big shirts and little boots?

And in the mid 80's NEON was the rage LOL

Puff ball bangs makes them sound small. My bangs were so not small. They were ridiculously high and hurricane proof! THey wouldn't move at all.

dark lip liner with light or no lipstick.

Looked ridiculous even when it was popular. Looks even moreso now.

I was a teen and young adult during the 80's so I have fond memories of most of the fashion trends, even the weird and wacky ones. The era I lived through and thought was pretty bad was the 70's, especially late 70's.

Polyester doubleknit leisure suits, clunky platform shoes, fake silk shirts with huge pointed collars, extreme bellbottom pants, cowl neck sweaters, man perms, Farrah hair, and huge glasses were all in fashion and all pretty awful.

we called them 'mall bangs'. the higher the better. Auqanet was a staple in your beauty routine.

Oh, goodness, YES - I must have repressed that memory. :lmao:

As for the bangs, yeah they were way bigger than puffballs ("The higher the hair, the closer to God" seemed to be the guideline), and in a wind the entire "ball" lifted as if it were a single entity.

This I hope to never see again. Although, it was always two polos with popped collars. The mom in me cringes about washing two shirts for no apparent reason--let alone four.

I could never wear the shoulder pads. I took a seam ripper to them as soon as possible.

I hated the tight-ankled jeans. Peg-legging was also pretty popular in HS.

Gummy shoes were also awful.

What is this? I'm googling and coming up with sweaters similar to what Cosby wore.

"skirts/dresses over footless leggings with flats"

I really liked this look and I've worn it again now! I've obviosuly updated the flats and the tunic or dress. It is so comfortable.

On the man's side:

Plaid Polyester pants with 2" cuffs
Three toned, fake leather platform shoes
Super wide poly ties
Quiana shirts

In 1978 when I was 15 I had a man perm, aviator teardrop glasses and those ugly Earth shoes. It was frightening. I won't even mention the horrible bell bottoms or the plaid pants.

I was in High school from 1990-1994, here are a few I hope to never see again:

Parachute Pants
big gold hoop earrings
"mall hair"
bike shorts
and most of all---Hypercolor shirts

anybody else remember the bead necklaces that you could combine the different strands and mix and match the colors? You could wear them long or twisted and held with a clasp.

And let's not forget the banana clip!

Oh boy, do I have a list:

Hair done to the 9's from the front, not in the back

MC Hammer pants

Rocker 3/4 length sleeve band shirts

Men with frosted hair

Light pink frosted lip-gloss with red lip-liner

Purple cellophane for hair for guys

Baggie pants rolled in and cuffed so they would be tight at the angle

Black & white funky leather jackets

The turned up collar on guys ala Top Gun

2 tone denim like Michael J Fox wore in Back to the Future

spiral perms
Ugh. My hair grows like that and in the 90s everyone asked if it was a perm. I rarely get that question anymore.

My 12 yo wears skirts/dresses with leggings too. I think it's cute.

I hope to never see french cuffed pants again.
