Old parkhopper ticket question

I just read on another thread that old park hopper tickets no longer have a value towards upgrading and must be used "as is" for admission. My question is, does anyone know if they convert these to the finger scan tickets now? I have a few old tickets with misc days and plusses left but I want to be careful who gets assigned which ticket if the finger scan gets attached to the tickets. The parkhoppers do have a magnetic strip on the back so I'm wondering if they will just be scanned like the used to. Thanks!

Yes, all admission media requires a fingerscan now, including the old park hopper tickets. That rule was instituted in July 2005. The information on the ticket's magnetic strip and the fingerscan information get paired together in Disney's computer the first time the ticket is used with the fingerscan. After that, the computer will expect to see the same fingerscan information everytime it sees that ticket's magnetic strip info.

I have two PHPs from a trip in 2005. I wrote DD16's and DS14's name on the front of them with a Sharpie marker back before we first used them. It's much easier to see than a signature scawled on the back in ballpoint pen and it doesn't interfere with the scanners.

Thanks so much for the info! Somehow throughout our trips, I ended up with one completely unused 5 day park hopper, 2 other park hoppers with one day each, and one child park hopper with one day left. I believe their are plusses left on some also. I won a trip for this summer which includes 5 day tickets but we are extending our stay so this might be a good time to use some of these misc days from the old tickets. We could use the 2 adult tickets that have one day left, along with the child ticket with one day left, and then buy a single day child ticket for my other child for $55. Of course, I would still need to use the 5 day ticket at some point in the future. Or, maybe I should just save the 5 day and the two single day tickets and use them for one of us on our next trip instead of buying a 7 day ticket, but that would leave me with a one day child pass. Oh, decisions, decisions, lol!

At least now I can plan this out rather than standing at the gate trying to decide, lol!

HI ALL!
April of 2004 I exchanged a 1990 paper Hopper Pass which had one day not stamped and the guest services rep at MGM converted the pass to a magnetic stip one day Hopper which last year used toward a 3 day Hopper at DDT Tix Center and this year going to upgrade to a 6 day Hopper for our up coming trip. :cool1:
