My daughter and I were at a thrift shop this weekend. One thing we always love is if we find some old Disney memorabilia for our collection. As DVC members, we really love it if we find something from DVC!

She spotted a pair of champagne flutes. They are clear with a blue stem. They have the OKW logo and 1991 engraved on them, along with Conch Flats and a couple of latin slogans. Is anyone familiar with these? I know I haven't seen them at the Conch Flats store but we've only stayed at OKW over the last four years. My husband wondered if they were something from the opening of OKW since he believes it opened in 1991.

Anything anyone can share about our latest treasure is appreciated! They look great on our Disney glassware shelf.

I do not have any specific knowledge of these. However, OKW was known as the Disney Vacation Resort from 91 to 96. Thus, they have to be from after Jan of 96 when the name changed.

They don't actually specify Old Key West - they just say Conch Flats. Was that ever a different name? I would post a pic but I don't know how. Need my daughter to do that!

Conch Flats is the name of the fictional town contained in the Old Key West Resort, part of the resort storyline. The resort store is the Conch Flats general store, and there is a sign as you enter the resort welcoming you to Conch Flats, Population: Friendly

The latin phrase is likely veni, vidi, veni, ad infinitum roughly translated, We Came, We Saw, We Came, again and again. The logo and phrase appeared (may still appear) on the glass doors used to enter the OKW Conch Flats Community Hall.

They were available in the resort store for several years. I think the style changed years ago.

If these flutes are really the original version, the DVC logo will have 3 mountains, the logo was changed to 2 mountains about the time the name changed to OKW. Now we have the more generic Mouse head logo for DVC.

Here is the cover of the 1993 Conch Flats Merchandise Catalog showing the DVC logo at that time. The resort name was still The Disney Vacation Club Resort.

Here are a couple of the interior pages showing some more of the merchandise available at that time -

Chuck and Doc - thanks so much for the info. I just got home from a two week trip to China so I am late with my thanks! I am off to count the mountains. The latin phrase is correct.

Even if they were sold in the store and there are lots of them out there, they will make a nice addition to my Disneyana/DVC collection! We sometimes wish we had bought OKW re-sale rather than all new SSR contracts since the resort is great and the number of points required to stay is the lowest! We could do four trips a year if we stayed studio and avoided holidays and weekends.
