Old Muster Drill back?

Found some dates online:
Today for Dream and Fantasy
November 20th for the Magic
November 14th for the Wish
November 16th for the Wonder.

Boo, hiss, was fun while it lasted!
Where were those dates posted?

Soooo, now that the old muster is back, can we assume that all of the good things DCL has taken away since Covid are coming back this week, too? No more PAT for Platinum, onboard booking of specific future cruises, officers' pin trading, paper navigators upon request, etc.

I'm being facetious but really wish that I weren't.

Can someone explain to me how the old muster drill works? I am going on my first cruise at the end of January on the wish, and everything I’ve seen/watched/planned for includes the app check in! 😭

Everyone reports to their muster station at 4pm. Some rooms are lucky enough to have indoor muster stations like the theater and can sit. So far my muster stations have been on the deck 4 promenade, by our letter. You check in with the CM at your muster station and they line each room, row by row, tallest in back by the wall, shortest in front. Each row is right next to each other and then you wait for everyone to check in. Finally they do the drill, blow the extremely loud emergency signal. When the drill is done, usually the sail away party is next and most people are all trying to get there The good thing is you don't need to wear your lifejackets. The bad part is the crowd, the possibility of waiting a long time in the sun for the stragglers, and the loud emergency signal.

The movie theater on the fantasy was the worst spot we have ever had. Jammed in and so many kids bouncing around kicking seats and such.

We have had other inside spots that are fine though. Outside depends on month and which spot .

What I hate the most about this return to the old way is the jam trying to get back to your cabin.

I’ll second this!

The reality is aspects of it were the same with the pandemic era virtual check in. They still paused things and showed the safety briefing video ship wide and played the emergency signal. However since you could chose where to be for it you could be more comfortable and more importantly there wasn’t the crush of people going/coming.

All that being said the old way is just a moment and we did make friends with one of the staterooms by us in the process. So it can be a chance to meet your stateroom neighbors, just don’t talk when you are supposed to be listening.

Found this old thread about where Muster Stations are - it's an old thread but I can't imagine it has changed. Looks like I'll be on deck rather than in a theater. Does anyone know which side of the ship (Fantasy) will be facing the port and which side faces the water? Hoping it won't be a too sunny day. At least we don't have to put our life jackets on which I think changed in 2011.

The Fantasy (and all the other DCL ships for that matter) board on the starboard side of the ship. That's the side that faces the terminal at Port Canaveral.

Thank you so much for the information! Not exactly the way I expected my birthday cruise to start. Reading all of the replies here I am pretty nervous about the whole thing and how busy it’ll be. Are there specific places for specific floors?

The big difference is DCL has no say in the muster drill. That is the U.S. Coast Guard ending the modifications they allowed when cruising resumed. Everything else, who knows.

Well then why is Disney the only one changing at this point?

This just gives me another reason to avoid DCL besides things like their pricing being crazy higher.

No idea. Purely speculation on my part but maybe because Disney carries so many more children that other cruise lines so they were ordered to resume first?

Certain sections of certain floors have the same muster drill location and it's marked on the back of your stateroom door (with a schematic) as well as labelled on your life preserver in your room (that you DON'T have to wear), and is on the app. You should have time between getting to your stateroom and the drill to look for it if that would decrease your anxiety, otherwise about 10-15 minutes before the drill you can just follow the crowds...or ask a crew member.

After the drill, if you wait 5-10 minutes then the crowds usually thin out noticeably-most people are super ready to get the party started. :)
