Hi. What can anyone tell me about the OKR? I am now considering a stay there but haven't heard much about it. Any information would be great.

OKW is a Vacation Club resort and you might get a more response if you post this on the DVC boards.

HTH!!! :teeth:

OKW is part of the Disney Vacation Club resort area. IMHO it is one of the nicest resorts on the grounds with large rooms (from a studio to a hugh suite that can sleep 12) and a quiet atmosphere. I purchased an interest back in 1992 and even though Disney has expanded the DVC to several other resorts, OKW still has the largest accomodations.

We stayed at OKW in May, 2004 and loved the resort. Some people do not like the location, but we usually stay in the moderates, so we didn't really have a problem with it. I my opinion, since we go to all four theme parks and both water parks, there isn't going to be a resort that is close to all of them. OKW is really close to Epcot, MGM, Typhoon Lagoon, and DTD and an easy drive or bus ride to the other parks.

We never had any trouble with the buses during our stay. We never had a long wait. The resort is beautiful. It is spread out, but again, we are used to the moderate resorts with are also spread out. I actually prefer this because it is much quieter than a more compact resort. Also, you get to park right in front of your room instead of in a parking lot. :cool1: This is really nice when you come back from a long day at the park. The staff here was fantastic. My nephew and I were walking back from the weight room one night at about midnight and a staff member stopped on a golf cart and asked if we wanted a ride to our room.

The resort has a main pool, I can't really comment on this because they have redone the main pool since we were there, and several private pools spread out around the resort. We had a private pool with a hot tub right across from our building. Really nice to come back after a day in the parks and soak your tired feet in the hot tub.

The rooms are also the largest of the home away from home resorts and also the least expensive. We rented DVC points when we stayed there and our per day cost for a studio room was actually less than a moderate resort room. The studio room is one large room with two queen beds, this was really nice, a table and two chairs, an entertainment armoir/dresser. We also had a hallway with a sink/microwave/refrigerator/cabinets on one side and a full enclosed closet on the other side. At the end of the hallway was a very big bathroom. We also had french doors that went out onto our own private covered patio.

The resort feels very much like a nice Florida condo development. It was very peaceful, relaxing and spacious. Our only complaint was that they did not have a food court, but, again, since we stay at the moderates, we are used to having that dining option.

We will stay at this resort again in the future.

OKW is a beautiful resort. My favorite!!!

you have a choice of view - water, woods, golf

you also have a choice of locations - near the bus stop, quiet pool, or HH.

most people pick the HH - it is where the front desk, restuarants, general store, snack bar, main swimming pool with a slide (this is a new addition), basketball court (half), tennis courts, big sand playground for the kids, gym, community hall, etc.

I like the back area better. It is more out of the way, but it is also more peacefully and quiet.

OKW use to be really quiet. but the hurricane took down alot of the trees that surround the area. So it is still pretty quiet - but it will be years before it is quiet again.

Each building has either two or three floors - the only elevators are on building 62, 63, or 64. the other building don't have an elevator. So if you are prepare to walk up and down steps don't say here.

the views from the second floor and up - make the walk definitely worth it.

You can get okay views from the first floor - but the second floor had pretty wonderful views!!!!

there are 4 swimming pools - one is the main pool with a slide - the others are all over the resorts. most places are only a 5 minute walk to one of the swimming pools.

this resort has several bus stops - 5. some people have complainted about the frequent bus stops before you leave to the parks. believe me once you get to a certain age you will appreciate the bus stops.

the resort then goes straight to the theme park.

you parking is in front of your villa. So it makes getting back and forth to the car very pleasant.

what do you want to know?
