OKW seems to have the largest sqaure footage, in its two bedroom units, have direct transportation to DTD, and requires the least amount of DVC points.

What are its disadvantges, versus Boardwalk, Fort Wilderness lodge or Beach Club Villa

OKW even has a grocery store, right??

Kansas,

OKW does have a store in the HH, next to Olivia's Rest. It does have some F&B, but it's not a full-blown grocery store. If I recall, you can get milk, eggs, some frozen foods, bread, cakes. Stuff like that.

And yes, you are correct about the spaciousness of the 2-bedroom units. We stayed in a 2-bedroom last year and we were surprised how big the condo was. We are staying at BWV's in 2 weeks, for the first time. So, I can't give you a comparison of the two just yet.

Some people find the location of OKW to be a disadvantage, since the other DVC resorts are adjacent to a theme park.

Others prefer the hotel-type amenities, like room service, which OKW doesn't have.

There's a poll on here from just a couple of days ago about the type of resort that members prefer -- the "condo" type, like OKW or the "hotel" type, with the other services. Maybe reading some of the comments there will give you more info.

OKW does not have the same type of pool that the other three you mentioned have. No slide, no waterfall, just a really nice, large pool next to a playground area. We think the pool area is very relaxing and our son enjoys it for an afternoon break. Although, we have a pool in our backyard at home so swimming is usually not a priority for us while at WDW. Also, OKW does not have the walking access to parks like BCV & BWV have. To us however, the wide open spaces you see out your balcony window make up for the not in the middle of the action location. I don't feel like I'm waking up in the middle of a theme park. My car is parked right outside the door and I can get anywhere I want in about the same time it would take me to walk from other resorts.

What are considered disadvantages to some people are really advantages to others, it all depends on what you desire on your vacation.
The disadvantages at OKW for me are:
The location is definitely # 1. I love being in the super convenient locations that the other DVC resorts are in. I love being able to walk to 2 parks at BWV and BCV or take a boat to MK from VWL. I like having numerous restaurants, shops and nighttime entertainment right outside my villa. This is not possible at OKW.
I am also a person that when I am on vacation I want to be spoiled and pampered. I want valet parking and I want room service, to me they are part of vacation. I also want elevators and air conditioned interior hallways. I want to be in the middle of the action and the excitment, for us this is fun and exciting and vacation. We also like having the themed pools and water slides and most importantly the life guards. This is also not part of the OKW experience.
As I said before what are considered disadvantages of OKW to some people (like me), are excatly the things that others love about OKW. Many people love the quiet, off the beaten track atmopshere of OKW. They do not want the hotel atmopshere, the deluxe hotel amenities nor do they want to be so close to the action.
It all depends on what you and your family want when you are on vacation. That is why they make vanilla and chocolate!!
