How many bus stops are there? I was looking on the map and only saw one at the front check in building. We have stayed at Coronado a few times and they have lots of bus stops. OKW just seems like such a big resort to only have one bus stop. Most people that stay there must drive cars? Thanks for your help. We will other stay at OKW or Boardwalk. Boardwalk is way more but what if I cant get a room close to the front at OKW? Thanks

OKW has a total of 5 bus stops. The main one is Hospitality house. Turtle pond, Peninsula and South Point are three of the other four, plus there is another one up close to the main entrance. I can't remember the 5 bus stop because the busses did not always stop there...over half the time they skipped that stop but they always stopped at the other three plus Hospitality.

If you won't have a car, I wouldn't bother with OKW; the buses to us make it too much of a hassle. I do BW without a second thought..

We stayed at OKW in the Old Turtle Pond area and had a bus stop just across the street, plus it was an easy walk to the main bus stop. We had a car but used the bus a couple of times and it was great. OKW doesn't share with any other resorts, so once you leave the resort, you go straight to the parks. And it is centrally located to all of the resorts. We haven't stayed at the BWI/BWV but I've read that although it's great to walk to EP and DHS, the buses to the other parks take a long time because you're sharing with other resorts.

Near HH is a bookable category at OKW if you want to guarantee being close to the main stop. Otherwise you can request other areas that aren't too far. I'd encourage you to check out the threads on the DVC Resorts board because OKW is a DVC resort and there is more discussion about it there.

this map shows the bus stops.

the buses are not as convenient as walking to a park or taking the monorail but i have stayed way back in the back of the resort (building 49) and not had a problem. i was not in a big hurry that trip, though, so YMMV.

(i haven't been much of a park commando since i bought into DVC.)

We just stayed at OKW for my birthday and we used the Disney buses every day but one. We were in the Old Turtle Pond area, right across from the bus stop and that was very convenient. The buses were hardly ever crowded. Old Turtle Pond was the 3rd stop, so we had 2 stops after we boarded before heading to the parks, and we had 2 stops before ours when we returned. I have to say that the layout of the resort is not conducive to running the buses through it. So many turns and a lot of back-tracking. The main stop at Hospitality House is the last stop before going to the parks, so if the bus is crowded, you will be standing if you are using that stop. When there were a lot of buses in transit, it seemed like it took a long time to get out of the resort and on the way to the parks in the mornings.

We've stayed at CSR multiple times and I've always thought we had the best overall bus service there. I appreciate that the stops are all around the perimeter of the resort and it seems very efficient to get through them all and on the way to the parks.

Now, I will say that we had a lovely stay at OKW and I would stay there again without hesitation. The bus situation was not a deal-breaker for us and we didn't mind the longer route. It just seemed less efficient than other resorts where we've stayed. As I told my husband while on the bus one day, "I bet the bus drivers hate this route" - it just seems like a difficult route.
