Ive had my heart set on the Boardwalk Villas since my family and I started to plan this vacation. But its entirely booked :(

So my father booked the Old Key West resort without asking me, So could someone give me some insiders info on it? like if you stayed there, did you like it?

We bought DVC and are going to OKW in September on our first trip. I did visit in April before we bought for an evening and loved it, loved the atmosphere. If you post on the DVC boards you should get TONS of reponses!

I've been going there for the past 14 years (when it was opened for DVC members). It's my home away from home and I absolutely love it. It's quiet, charming, and the CM's there are fabulous. You will love it!

As a teenager, I think you will love that you can just ride a boat over from OKW to Downtown Disney for lots of shopping and fun things to see and do. It's similar to the Boardwalk area but with MUCH more to keep you entertained. Besides, it is pretty easy to get over to Boardwalk to experience all that is offered there. If you are a golfer, runner, or tennis player, OKW is perfect for all that. They also recently added a pool table and a dart board. Hope you will enjoy your stay, even though you were counting on Boardwalk.

There's a cool new slide at the main pool too. When we have had teens with us, they have loved the main pool. They also have liked the extra large bedroom. This is more like living in a neighborhood than right downtown.

Our family loved OKW too! It has the largest rooms on property and is very comfortable, as well as beautiful. You can park right outside of your door, if you have a car. Have Fun!

OKW is our family's favorite resort. The resort activities are a little discussed key feature. My daughter loved the fishing excursion for kids. You can rent bikes, take a short boat ride to Downtown Disney weather permitting, listen to steel drum bands (check schedule when checking in). It is peaceful and I can't wait to go back to check out the new themed pool. It was late getting finished when we were there last xmas.

We, too, love OKW. We have several BW contracts, but after staying at OKW we decided to buy an OKW contract. It is our favorite resort now! Aside from the three swimming pools, which are wonderful, we love the boat over to Downtown Disney, and having drinks over at the Gurgling Suitcase. It is such a calm and relaxing place to be! :flower:

Nothing beats BWV's location, that's why we bought there. However, with that being said, we've stayed at OKW more then BWV's. We love the nice quiet location when we're looking for down time, which you can get at BWV but it just seems more hurried over there. In fact for our next trip we changed from a Boardwalk view room to OKW for after the DVC members cruise, figure we'd be looking for some piece and quiet by then.

We love the rooms...decor and sizes, but an added bonus for us city dwellers is feeling like we're in suburbia when we're Home without having to live in Suburbia. pirate:

Do you have any idea what the schedule may be? Where do they play? I'm assuming it's there at the main area somewhere. We'll be there (first time) Dec. 10-17, 2005. Do they play just steel drums, or is it singing, etc.?

Can't wait to hear more about the steel drums. That sounds very interesting. Also, where is the Gurgling Suitcase? Is it near the HH?

Much thanks! ::MinnieMo

Gurgling suitcase is along Turtle Crawl - walk along where the boats go from and you'll find Goods Food to go, Gurgling Suitcase, the rental shop (can't remember the name) and the gym

Yes, it's just to the back of that building. It's actually between there and the pool.

I am 22 years old and I have gone to OKW just about every year that I was a teen. I love it there. There is so much to do. Each year I always meet new people and being that we go the same time every year, it is like an annual reunion with everyone that I have met in previous years. I dont think you will be disappointed.

We joined OKW in 1993 and have gone every year, sometimes 2 or 3 times. We have stayed at BWV and BCV. Everytime we go I ask them where they want to stay and they always say OKW. My DD is 18 and DS is 15 and I thought this last year they would enjoy where BCV are located and SAB. I had to switch my ressie to OKW.
