I am looking for the phone number to call Old Key West (?front desk) to make room request. I don't want the Disney resort central operators -- they can't take room request. I searched the forum for the number but couldn't find it. I think I saw it on the MDE app at one point but can't find it now.

I have never seen one. Maybe someone knows, but if not Member Services can take requests.

There is no direct phone number to the resort front desk. If staying on points, the request needs to go through DVC Member Services. If you rented points from a member, that member needs to add the room request. Online check in may have the option for limited room requests.

EVERYTHING , all calls, go to call center/company operations.
The resorts have their hands full with c/i guest.
A cast member will record your req on your reservation.
,
This dept takes calls for WDW, ABC, ESPN, CRUISE LINE.

If it's a points reservation, the call center is not supposed to add room requests. Those must go through DVC (or online check in).

true.
Meant to say, THEY TRANFERS YOUR CALL TO OTHER DEPT.
That is why you get 'moved' to 'others' so often.

When we were there recently, the OKW manager told us that the resort staff no longer assigns rooms. She said it is done by a 3rd party entity & the resort is finding far fewer requests being taken into account. We had requested a first floor for a medical reason (no accessible rooms available when booking); at check-in told no first floor available in entire resort.

Wow, I'm so sorry for you! I'm wondering if OKW will soon have a major issue since they have 40-50 buildings, but only 3 of those buildings have elevators. We just switched to reserving accessible rooms (fortunately, so far they've been available) so we don't have stairs. I feel guilty, because we don't need the room accessibility, and there may be other guests who do, but we do need the first floor (or the elevator, if that were reservable). I'm wondering if OKW will alter anything.

First floor units are in great demand, not just for convenience, but to accommodate the aging of the membership & their issues.

I wouldn’t feel bad, you have the same need as anyone else and you paid the same amount for those points.
This does make me feel better about my request to get a higher floor for our April trip though.
