We are taking our laptop for the first time to Disney and would like to access the internet, i know the price but i would like to know if its easy to use/step up.

Can i purchase just a day internet access or a couple of days etc.?

Internet is $9.95 per 24 hour period so you can choose when and how often you want the service. It is free for DVC members and other guests will just have the charges on their room bill.

If you login the first time at 8:00pm there will be no other charge until after 8:00pm the next day, so depending on your needs, you can plan your usage around each 24 hour period. It is a wired service and you'll just need to plug your laptop into the HSIS outlet located in the villa and follow the online instructions when you access your browser. There will be a cord provided in the room if you don't have one with you.

Enjoy!

The cord should be in a small sac on a hangar in the closet. If you don't see it, call housekeeping and they will bring one over. :thumbsup2

Thankyou, We need to take so the children can do some homework while away and also so we can send photos home, lol.

Not to hijack but if we are renting points do we get free internet?

The answer is...maybe, maybe not. Technically, renters are not supposed to receive free internet, but unpaid guests of the owner do receive most DVC perks, the DVC Public Offering Statement differentiates between renters and guests of members.

It also states that owners need to inform DVC if they are renters or guests. Many owners do not do this, and many DVC Member Services CMs also do not ask or make the notation...so in all likelihood, you will receive free internet. BUT if it shows up on your room billing, you will not have the mebership card to contest it.

When you go online the first time after hooking up your computer you should know that you have to click on a fresh browser to get online. You cannot have a browser open and use that browser. It will not work. So log off all browsers and then plug into the outlet and then click on your browser and it will take you to a resort page that gives you permission to use their service.

How does it become free for DVC members? Do we tell the front desk before we log in for the first time? I teach online college classes and have to log in every day.

Thanks! :)

You just log in and accept whatever the charge says... I've never had it show up on a bill... don't know how they know I'm DVC, but they know :lmao: If I was charged, I'd just stop by the desk at check out and have them remove it.

What about wireless ? If I bring a wireless router from home for my ipad, what do I need to know about setting that up ?

When you log in, there will be a note that states the service is free for DVC members. We used this at OKW in May, 2010.

Use the cord in the room to plug into your router and you are all set.

If a reservation is booked through Member services with points, and you show your membership card when you check, why would they not know you are a member. The rub is that sometimes renters are also identified as "member", so they may or may not get charged. If you are a renter and don't get charged, consider it a gift. If you are a renter and DO get charged, pay the small daily fee for usage. It's not enough to break anyone anyway.

I called the front desk last week when I could not connect the laptop owned by my employer, (it has extra security on it). They connected me to tech support.

They were very helpful and had me connected in no time.

As others have said, you will have to click a box that you agree to pay the fee in order to be connected, even though it is free for members staying on points.

I have used this 2 or 3 times, and never had a problem with billing.

I have my old Apple airport express (a/b/g) that I'm bringing to OKW during the Labor Day Wknd. I see that I'll likely get free access then, and I've briefly looked at this as a previous thread, but any updates on this. Is the rehab affecting this? I'll be near the Hospitality House.:figment:

First time on our own on our own DVC membership (been scamming off the parents for a couple of years)

I was at OKW in May and had no problem logging on the 1st time after that I could not get on, called tech support and within minutes I was on, they were great!

THe original HSIA access plugs have been sealed in the rehabbed rooms. (I assume the resort will eventually go wireless). The access port ina studio is nowbehind thenight stand, and in a one bedroom it will be behind the large corner table in the living room. That is where you'll need to plug in your routers.
