I need some guidance. My entire family which consists of 7 adults and 6 children want to go to disney world in November between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have a few questions...

1. Can you use the pools in November...is it warm enough?
2. How are the crowds?
3. Would the grande villa be big enough? How many bedrooms are there in Old Key West? How is that different from the Boardwalk?
4. What resort has better pools--Old Key West or Boardwalk?
5. If we decided to get 4 studios instead...would it fairly difficult to get these rooms all at the same resort like the Beach Club?

Anything you could tell me about Old Key West and Boardwalk would be great. We just came back from Beach Club Villas and stayed in a studio with my immediate family and we loved it!

Regardless of the scenario, I will need to purchase/rent 300 points.

Thanks,
Cyndi :earsboy:

I also left you a private message...
pools are all dependent on weather, we went in January and used the pools everyday; crowds are horrible @ Thanksgiving and then again a week before Christmas until New Years, but in between is fantastic (slow); if you have a child under 3, a grand villa would be fine, or if some of the kids are real small but not under 3 I'll bet you would be fine...but if you want 4 studios at one resort, I think you would get that as long as it is not at the above busy times, even then you might be okay too...

contact me at ellenhernandez1221@hotmail.com, I can help you with other questions as well

I just sent you a pm. Another option would be to rent 2 2-bedrooms. We did that at boardwalk and it worked out great. We had 7 adults and 5 kids.

If you go with studios - keep in mind OKW has two queen beds in them while the others are all one bed and a pull out sofa.
OKW GV has 3 bedrooms - 4 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed and the two upstairs rooms have either 2 queen sized or 2 doubles. There is a pull out sofa in the living room. You have a large kitchen area and full laundry room as well. I believe BWV and SSR GV's have same amount of rooms just different layout. BCV and WLV do not have GVs. You might also consider a 2BR and 2 studios if you want to do some meals and laundry. The 2BRs at OKW are quite large so you could do family things there. You need to run some numbers on the points calculator to see what each option would be. Glad to hear you had a great trip to BCV.

If you go the first week in December, the points are the lowest. We have a GV, from December 4-9, at OKW for only 180 points. Add Friday night and it goes up to 268 points. BWV and SSR points are higher...BWV is 370 for the GV from Sunday, checking out Friday and 464 checking out Saturday. SSR is 335 Sunday, leaving Friday and 420 leaving Saturday.

First, why look at just OKW or Boardwalk? If pools are important (questions 1 & 4), then you can't beat BCV because of SAB. Instead of a GV for a party of that size, I'd consider two 2BR's. More flexibility in sleeping arangements and kitchen/laundry facilities.

But to your question about the number of rooms in a GV - its the same at OKW and BW, three bedrooms and a kitchen/dining/living room. The bedrooms include a master suite with kingsize bed, tv and wirlpool tub in the master bath; and the two other bedrooms include two double or queen size beds with tv and bath; there is also a half-bath of the living room.

Aside from any occupancy issues, you may want to consider whether your group will like to meet up / eat / drink all together at any times.

If you go for the all-studios option, this is going to be impossible (or very uncomfortable!) and you wouldn't have a full kitchen or washer/drier. If you feel a GV won't be large enough for you all, but would still like somewhere to re-group, you could consider getting a 1-bedroom plus three studios or a 2-bed plus two studios. The 1 and 2-bedrooms in OKW have a lot of space in the kitchen / dining / living area, plus you'll have a washer/drier.

Cyndi-

I left you three private messages today, all your availabilty options are there. Let me know where you would like to go from here!

I would be more inclined to do 2 2bedroom units for the comfort factor. It does depend a bit on the ages of the kids. If one is under 3, you can do a GV and still be within the occupancy limits. Keep in mind that SSR also has GVs, and they are less points than BWV, but more than OKW. We often go the first week of December, and it's iffy for the pools, but the hot tubs are great then!
