My family is considering staying at the Old key West resort this May. I was wondering how is the bus service to the parks? Are the buses crowded? How are the wait times? We normally stay at PO Riverside but this year we want more space (6) of us now. Any info about the resort, likes or dislikes please let me know. Thanks!

We usually have a car, but we do use the busses to go to the parks.Usually it is no more than a 15 minute wait. Here is a link for some info about OKW.The 1or 2 BR are huge.It is a very relaxed laid back resort.

Hi we got back from our stay Dec 1st to 5th . It was very nice . Quiet , Relaxing and we never waited more then 8 minutes for a bus! I would assume May will be busier but I would think they will keep up with supply and demand. We took the boat to DTD and that was very neat. The pools are very clean and the water was really warm ( might have been cause the air was really cool. ) We had a Studio so the microwave and mini fridge were awesome and the room was HUGE ! hope this helps Michelle

It's been awhile since we've used the busses on a regular basis. A few years ago, we did have an unusual 45 minute wait for a MK bus, seems most busses were every 20 to 30 minutes. I did hop a bus to AK one morning last month by myself to do a little shopping. I think I was probably just lucky, but I had no more than a 5 minute wait both directions.

We just got back from OKW on Sunday. The buses were great - most of the time little or no wait. And the drivers were outstanding - we nearly missed the bus one morning, the driver saw us coming and waited for us. You will love your two-bedroom unit and never want to go back to something smaller.

The only time the buses are crowded are at the end of the day leaving the park. We have never had to stand going to the park, only returning from the parks at the end of the day.

Check out the DVC Forums to find out more about OKW.

You will find very little difference in the bus service from OKW and what you are used to at PO. Sometimes you hit it just right, sometimes there is a problem that can make the wait longer. In general, bus service is no better or worse than that at any other WDW resort.

On the other hand, if you stay in a two-bedroom or even two studios at OKW, you will find yourself in a world of luxury far beyond the rooms at PO. I love the moderates but they don't compare to a DVC resort. A 2 bedroom is like having your own "home" right on WDW property.

We loved our visit to OKW this past Nov! You will love all the room your villa has and the relaxed feel of the resort. It really made Disney a relaxing vacation.

Now we had a rental car and mostly used it for transportation, but we were close to a bus stop and never saw a crowded bus and they seemed to be constantly coming from all the parks.

I guess I'm going to have to be the minority voice here. My experiences with the OKW buses have left a lot to be desired. I usually stay there once a year. Although I really like the resort, I've never had great experience with the buses. The last time I remember asking about the schedule, I was told that buses run every 20 minutes. We're generally lucky if we can catch a bus every 30 minutes, but on several occasions we have waited as long as 45 minutes. I can understand hitting the schedule wrong a few times, but we've heard from others on our trips who also had poor experiences with the OKW buses.

On a positive note, the buses are almost never crowded except late at night or when afternoon thunderstorms clear out the water parks.

We last stayed at OKW a year ago and did not have any problem with bus service. Usually a bus came by within 10 minutes of getting to the bus stop. Only once did we have a longer wait. It was for a MK bus and we waited 25 minutes. I sticks in my mind as all the other bus trips were short waits.

We've never had a problem with the bus transportation at OKW, the buses seem to run right on time (except when we were going to MNSSHP and waited about 30-45 minutes, but that's different).

I would recommend buildings 11-14 and 62-64. They are close to the main pool, Olivia's, store, check-in, and the first and last bus stops. :)

We stayed at OKW for the first time during the busy Thanksgiving week this past November and had a wonderful time! I really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and serenity that we experienced there. The bus service was awesome! I was concerned because of some of the negative comments I have read in the past about OKW bus service but we waited on the average 5-10 minutes for buses to the parks. The only long wait we experienced from coming home from Downtown Disney one night where we just missed a bus and waited about 35 minutes for one. Other than that it was wonderful.

We stayed in the Old Turtle Pond area in a one bedroom and it was huge - more than enough room for the 4 people in my family. Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to check out the pool area but plan to on our upcoming trip.

You will have a wonderful time at OKW. This was the first trip to Disney that I have ever made where I came home relaxed and refreshed - which says a lot about the laid back atmosphere at OKW. Enjoy!
