What would you do?

Mom and Dad - 60 Years Old

Brother and SIL
Niece 1
Niece 3

Myself - 30

Would we be comfortable in a 2 bedroom or would you add a studio? My concern with getting two units, besides the extra cost is the fact that we could be somewhat far from each other

Thanks

Wow, there are so many factors you left out, like, are the 1 and 3 year olds quiet or noisy, do they get along in a bed or fight like cats and dogs? Do the older people listen to the tv REALLY LOUDLY?

Who gets the middle room with the kitchen and who gets the king sized bed with the good bath, who gets the studio that connects (I'd give it to the 1 & 3 year old with the parents-better soundproofing, less diaper smell).

When we do OKW we always get a studio for each 'set' of people. Nobody wants to cook or do laundry anyway, so who needs a full kitchen? We've always been right around the corner from each other, too, so no problems with distance.

Literally feet from each other's doors, and I think 3 studios *might* be cheaper than a 2bdrm?

So, that's my 2c...

will the 3 year old sleep in a crib?

I think you have plenty of room for your family size. I would give the master bedroom to mom and dad, and the 2nd bedroom, if it is a lock off, will have 2 queen size beds. Brother and SIL can take one bed, and you can have the other. If the 3yo won't sleep in a crib, (you would have to request a 2nd crib) she can share the queen bed with you.

Or, if your family is not that "cozy" with each other, you can give the 2nd bedroom, which if it is a lock off is a studio in itself to Brother and SIL for their family, and you take the couch, either as is, or pull it out.

But, with the kids being so little, it would be a waste, IMO to get another studio.

The OKW 2 bedrooms are large. If you don't mind doing the pull out sofa (yep, they are the new kind and very comfy), I would think a 2 bedroom would be fine. Much better than 3 studios, where you would have no in room laundry, no kitchen, and no living room or large eat on deck. I would put your parents in the master, you on the pull out in the living room, and your brother's family in the second bedroom. Be sure to request a building above 30 so you have the extra door to the toilet/shower part of the master bath. That way you wont have to disturb your folks if you need to use the facilities at night. You will have plenty of room to be very comfortable. That also leaves you right there in the kitchen to get the morning coffee and breakfast ready before the others are up! Each group will get their own TV, and you will find they will probably spend a fair amount of time in their own rooms.

BTW, ALL OKW 2 bedrooms have 2 queen beds, not just the lock-offs. I would go for the dedicated anyway so the extra large closet in the second bedroom can become a little private room for the crib.

That's exactly how I would do it too! ;) I think as long as you yourself don't mind taking the pullout sofa then you'll all be quite comfy in the 2bdrm.

HTH's

Are these your points and YOUR vacation? Do you get to go fairly often during the year (and thus are trying to stretch the points) or is this your one vacation for the year? I guess I would vote for getting an extra studio, either for the little family of four or for your parents. We've done this and Disney does a pretty good job of getting families pretty close by (probably right down the hall).

If it was my vacation and my points I wouldn't want to be the one on the pullout (and I don't see any other option). You'll be the one that doesn't get to sleep if someone wants an early cup of coffee, or the little ones want to cut through your space to see their grandparents early in the morning. You will have no privacy for dressing unless you take over the bathroom, you will have no closet to yourself. Plus you may be setting a precedent - if everyone REALLY loves this trip you may be setting yourself up for an eternity of pullout couch on your vacation!

If you spring for an extra studio, that gives everyone a bit of privacy and leaves the livingroom area in the 2 bedroom as a sort of headquarters where you can all meet up, share meals, etc.

This can be tricky....

Most sense would be: Brother/SIL and kids in the studio section of the 2 bedroom. Mom and Dad in the master suite and you on the pull out.

However, are we talking practical or convenience?

Will Mom and Dad use the jacuzzi? Do they need to be close to a bathroom?

Do you need to have your own space? Living on the pullout is like living in the wide open!

Do the kiddies get up early? Do you get up early? Does your parents get up early? How much privacy do you need? How many showers do you take a day?

It maybe quite easier for you to take the master bedroom and give the Brother and MIL/kids the 2nd bedroom and have Mom and Dad in a Studio!

Everyone gets a tv, peace and privacy! :sunny:

I'd seriously consider an OKW 2 bedroom for them and a Boardwalk studio for me! :smooth:
