Old Fast Passes?

Hey guys, without starting any arguments or what have you about the fairness of this or anything, I just want to ask a quick question. I've been to Disney many times so I know all the basics and then some, but I am curious about using fastpasses WAY past the time on the ticket. I know that they are very easy-going about using fastpasses an hour or two after the time stated on the pass, but I have recently seen/heard of people using fastpasses literally anytime they wanted.
What really sparked my curiosity was I noticed someone selling old passes on ebay claiming it is disney policy to accept old fastpasses for use ( I was searching for vinyls by the way and these were thrown into a lot). I have not heard of this policy before, nor was I able to confirm it for sure. The reason why I am super curious right now is because when I went to disney last August with a party of 13, there was a lot of leftover fastpasses. A lot werent used because there was no time / it was hard to herd people..but some I can legitimately remember we didn't get a chance to use because the rides were broken down nearly the entire day. So before anyone says it is completely lame for them to accept these year-old passes, just consider that. I'll be in the parks on saturday before our cruise on the Dream, so I am very curious if anyone can confirm the usability of these.
I can see why this policy might be hidden but also true. Anyone can say a ride was broken down a year ago and they really can't / want to argue about it..it is Disney after all. But I can also see why they would not want to flaunt this policy.
Thoughts? Info? Thanks.

I remember a time when we would use a fastpass from the day before or a few days before...but in my experience those days are long gone. You have until park closing on the day the fastpass is issued to use it.

No you can't use those. You can use a FP on the day it was issued at anytime past the start time until the park closes for the evening. That's it.

While it would be nice to be able to use old FP's, that would simply disrupt the entire system. We have thousands of unused FPs. I'm sure we aren't the only people who have similar numbers of old FPs. Can you imagine the havoc if everyone with old FPs brought them back for another visit? The rides aren't capable of handling that many people in a day.

I understand the system and all. My main question was if anyone has tried this for certain and has been denied. I always assumed it was not possible and just scrapped the extras. But for people to be selling them on ebay (with good records) claiming they are good for use was a little eye opening I suppose.

FPs are only good to the end of the operating day. The vast majority of the CMs will turn you away with FPs from prior dates. This is in part why the format of the FP was changed a while back to print the date issued in much larger font.

Yea I'm not even going to bring them I was just making sure I haven't been missing some hidden policy all these years.
Anyway, one more question if anyone knows the answer to this because I just thought of this as well..somewhat related.
We joined DVC 2 years ago and this will be our second park trip since..last time we learned about the DVC fastpasses kind of late and obtained them through a meeting at BLT. I have heard that you can obtain these at the front desk, but since the BLT front desk referred me to the contemporary front desk and they had no idea last year, I am just wondering if there is a specific way to obtain these DVC fastpasses.
And yes I am a bit desperate here I admit it lol. I myself have seen the parks plenty of times but we are bringing two newcomers with us and they only have 1 day before the cruise in the parks.

There are no DVC fast passes. There are FPs they give sometimes when you do a DVC tour. Just being a DVC member does not get you any special FPs.

I accidentally showed a FP from the prior day (we left and didn't end up returning that day). They called me out on it, and then I realized that I hadn't cleared out my lanyard from the day before.

I presented the current day's FP, and all was well with the world.

The fast passes that are being sold on eBay are not being sold with the intent that you can still use them. They are being sold for scrap booking.

Hmmm -- conflicting inputs.

Any way to reconcile these two wildly conflicting statements?

Do you really beleive that? Most of these ebay sellers of FPe are trying to scam those new to WDW..sorry, you are giving these folks much to much credit.

I've been told that I could use a Fast Pass on a later date before. However, this was because the park was closing very soon, and RnRC had broken down AGAIN (this was during New Year's week). They told all of us, who were returning with FPs, that we could use them later in the week. I'm sure all the CMs at the attraction that night and for the rest of the week were aware of the situation. They may have also issued FPs for later to some of the people waiting in the Stand By line. It probably happens a lot during peak times.
We didn't end up making it back to MGM before we left, so we never used them.

In general, FPs must be used by the end of the day on which they were obtained.

All I did was go to the eBay sight and did a search for fast pass. After I got past all the fast pass pins for sale I found an old fast pass for sale. This is what was in the description "This auction is for two*Test Track*Fast Passes. They would be great for scrapping."

I found a few more for sale (more then I expected) and they all had the exact or similar description.

Yes, I do think they are being honest, if they weren't they would most likely mention something about an unknown or unwritten Disney rule.

I have also had the above experience.

In addition on another occasion I asked (very politely) if we could use an expired fastpass the next day as the ride went down before our return time the previous day and never came back up that evening. The answer was still no.

I have never been turned away with a fastpass from the same day that has passed its return window even during Christmas week last year for Soarin' and TT.

Buy one slightly used AAA Diamond parking pass, get 2 expired FP's free. Limited time only, while quantities last.

I am not saying everyone is claiming this but I did see several that did note you can still use them.

Okay because some people have said differently. The cards actually did say DVC on them and could be used at anytime for an instant fastpass..even if the fastpasses were sold out for the day.

And if you do a google search of ebay and old fastpasses or something to that extent like I just did, you will get a few ebay guides that come up and some claim that you can use any fastpass. Anyway, debate over you obviously can't- which is what I was always under the impression of anyway. But I just wanted to make sure that if you actually tried that you would in fact get denied. That was all.

Yes, those do say DVC on them and that is how they work but they are not just given to members. I received some when I did the DVC tour before I was a member and I think there was a promo recently that if you added on you got some instant FPs. (not sure of the details of that but no way I am adding on for FPs!) There was a DVC tour once a week at BLT and everyone got FPs. You can ask on the DVC boards if they are still doing that because I'm not sure. I don't know if it is really worth the time if you are not thinking of adding more points tho. I think the point is to thank you for your spending your park time on the tour rather than in the park so it evens out...

OMG.. I had to look on ebay. $99 for a lot of old fastpasses? Really? And someone will pay this?
