Hi everyone from Ontario Canada. Long time since I lurked these boards. First time poster.
We are headed back to Disney after a 9 years. Family of 5 (no-so-much kids - 18, 15 & 12) Made a very last minute decision to head out this coming Monday Juy 29 - 31! So much new to discover!
Hoping for some recommendations for great traditional Old Fashioneds and maybe some Disney-fied takes on this drink my husband loves. We are staying at the Grand Floridian

Thanks for all the amazing tips on this board. Everyone is so great to each other!
Cheers!

Welcome back to the Disney community! Congrats on the last-minute trip, and I'm sure you'll have a blast with your family! As for Old Fashioneds, you're in luck! The Grand Floridian has an amazing bar, Gasparilla Island Grill, that serves up a mean traditional Old Fashioned. If you're looking for a Disney twist, you might want to try the Enchanted Rose lounge at the Grand Floridian, they have a 'French 75' that's similar to an Old Fashioned but with a champagne twist. Enjoy your trip and cheers to many great drinks!
Awesome! Thanks for this. We will definitely check them out. I like that they are right on our resort too!

My husbands favorite drink by far and we love to go Topolino's Terrace. (Riviera Resort) I think they call theirs The Modern Old Fashioned. I might be wrong. But it's something like that. Really good, great bar, great restaurant and good view as well.😊

DH loves a good old fashioned! He liked the ones he got at Enchanted Rose (not the champagne one, just a traditional one) and Hollywood Brown Derby (outside bar).

Polite Pig has a Legacy Old-Fashioned that’s quite tasty and a Sweet Tea Old-Fashioned that I love, but if you lean toward more traditional, the first one is closer. The Edison makes a good one as well.

Regarding the outside HBD bar, do you mean the outside HBD Lounge bar or the cart outside the HBD to the left of the restaurant entrance? Thanks!

California Grill has a maple old fashioned on their menu that is great if you like a sweet old fashioned (I do).
They can also make a traditional one at the bar. Any signature restaurant with a bar (which is most of them) would be happy to make you an old fashioned I'm sure.

My wife loves the “timeless Elias” at Territory Lounge in Wilderness Lodge. Not really an old fashioned but it’s whiskey, cognac and vanilla syrup.

Also at the Edison they have an amazing smoked old fashioned she said

DH and I are Big Fans of Old Fashioneds! I'll be following the answers posted here.
You might want to check out the youtube videos of "Mammoth Club". The husband, Alan, often orders his favorite drink (Old Fashioned) in their food and drink videos. He compares the different variations, what he likes and doesn't like. Gives a lot of details. If I had time, I'd post a direct link to some of the videos that specifically have Old Fashioneds in them but if you start watching some of their videos, you're bound to find them. I know some are in the Winner Picks Dinner collection of videos.

ETA: you can search their page by "old fashioned". The search icon is under their logo on the home page, next to the Community tab

My husband had a FANTASTIC old fashioned at the bar at Morimoto Asia. I think it's the one drink that really turned him onto the drink

My favorite is the Tempting Tigress at Nomad Lounge in AK.

If you're worried about how the Old Fashioneds are made, or have particular tastes, you might really like the Old Fashioned at Dahlia Lounge in Coronado Springs' Destino Tower. It's a make-your-own where you pick from among 5 whiskeys, 5 bitters, and 5 simple syrups to tailor it just to your liking.

Sonoma maple bourbon old fashioned at Cali Grille is very good, and Tempting Tigress at Nomad Lounge also.

Steakhouse 71 in Contemporary makes what I'd probably consider the most 'traditional' classic Old Fashioned - and a very good one. And Boathouse has a delicious spin called the Christmas Old Fashioned with cranberry and rosemary that is delicious.

Hollywood Brown Derby is my favorite location for whiskey drinks. They've got a decent selection and a nice cocktail menu.

Both my husband and son are big fans of an Old Fashioned. Their favorites are the Modern Fashioned at Topolino's, the ones at Enchanted Rose (there is one that's there all the time and a seasonal one), and the S'mores Old Fashioned at Territory Lounge. My husband really likes the Tempting Tigress at Nomad which is similar on an Old Fashioned. The Polite Pig has an entire bourbon bar with a fantastic selection of spirits. They really like their Old Fashioned as they can choose the bourbon they want from their large selection.

Also - there is a YouTube channel I follow and the husband nearly always orders an Old Fashioned. He even put out a video on the best and worst at WDW:

IIRC, we had one at the Abracadabar on the Boardwalk. That was a while ago but you can probably check their menu online.

A French 75 is no where near an Old Fashioned...but they do have a traditional one and a seasonal one that they keep on their menu.

Traditional at Enchanted Rose is a solid choice. Not great and not bad in anyway. Just what the drink should be in standard form.

So we went to Morimoto Asia, hubs said the Old Fashioned was average at best. Now, The Enchanted Rose's Seasonal Old Fashioned was smooth and really a good taste. Had Coconut (which Hubs is not a fan of but it did not have an over powering flavour). Thanks for all the suggestions.
