Remember the old days. Trainers with the whales. Guess times a changing. That was the fun of some of the show. The risk.

I don't know what the point of this thread is, but Seaworld is working to get things back to the way they were before. Its a slow process but it will be worth the wait I'm sure.

Actually if you want to talk old times........the trainers did not get in the water with them when the park first opened. It took years and years before they got into the water and did the deep dive with the whales.

Back in 1975 when I went to SW for the first time, they did a Bicentinniel show with the big old Shamu. He was huge. In the show they had "George Washington crossing the Delaware "as one of the stunts. . They put a row boat on the belly of Shamu and one of the trainers got in the boat for the ride to the other side of the pool. The boat fell off and the trainer fell in the water. The trainer was scared to be in the water with the whale and swam and got out as fast as he could while other trainers got the whale away from him.

Since we have had annual passes almost every year since then, I saw the Shamu shows many many times. It is a beautiful sight to see the trainers and whales interract in the water. We saw the new show last Saturday and guess what? WE LOVED it! It is a very good show so just give it a chance. Someday hopefully they will be able to return to shows with them riding on the whales, diving with them, etc, but for now just enjoy the show as it is. We will be going back many many times to see this show.

Thats so cool! Its always neat to hear about how Seaworld, or any theme park in the area has changed over time. What great memories you must have!

Funniest thing........a series of my oldest sons baby pictures are of him being held by the various Super Heroes that were in the ski show back in the 80s. We never missed the Super Heroes ski show and if any of the performers are still around and read this....thank you for helping my son have such great memories.
