OLCC or clser to Kennedy

We are going to stay with Grandma at OLCC Aug 5-12. But we decided to go earlier The 2nd of Aug. We want to go to Kennedy Space Center and see the Ocean. Trying to find a place for 2 adults and 4 children. We received a postcard to stay at Orange Lake for 4 days/3 nights for 199, since Gma owns there. Have been pricing Hotel rooms near Kennedy, all over 100 a night for our group. Plus we wont be getting into Sanford until 930pm. Would it be better to drive to Kennedy or is there a cheaper but big enough way to go.
