Hi! I'm a newbie to DVC accommodation. We are not DVC members (yet!!) but have just booked our first holiday at Old Key West. Please could you tell me if there is a specific place I should go to on the DVC forum to find out all about OKW? I'd love to read as much as I can about it, see pics etc. Do I just work my way through all the threads (which is fine as I have 11 months to wait until our trip!) or is there a dedicated OKW thread somewhere? Thanks in advance!!

There are many good threads about OKW on all of the Operations, Planning and Mouscellaneous forums. You may want to do a search and pick by the most recent dates. To find more info about OKW, you can check this board's info (at the top of the page, under resorts). Disney's website also has info on their site for OKW as well under resorts. Have fun doing your research and best wishes on your upcoming trip.

Some general info:

All OKW studios have 2 queen beds, not a bed and sleeper sofa.

For 1 bedroom & 2 bedroom units, therewas a design change during construction. Bldgs 30 and higher will have two entrances to the bathroom, one through the master bedroom, the other through the laundry room. This may be important to you if someone is sleeoing on the pull out in the living room. Bldgs 29 and lower only have a entrance through the master bedroom.

There are no elevators, except in bldgs 62, 63 and 64. Those bldgs are often held for folks with mobility issues.

There are 5 bus stops and 4 pools (main pool, 3 quiet pool) scattered throughout OKW. Each pool has a sandy play area and hot tub. The main pool has a slide and there is a small sauna in the base of the OKW lighthouse.

OKW is connected to all parks by bus. It is connected to DtD by bus and boat. The boat also stops at SSR.

The areas farthest from main check-in are still only about a 12 to 15 minute walk from that area. Most areas are closer.

Here is an awsome website to find tone of information on everything on the Disney grounds allears (dot)net. trying make it within the posting rules. have a great time

Thank you very much vandy, Chuck S, DisDaydreamer and threegoofys - I appreciate it!

Post a simple question in here "Why do you love OKW?" And you'll have enough reading material for the next 11 months. :surfweb: :rotfl:
