Hey everyone. I was just trying to get some input on OKW. Its not my home resort but might be staying there in a 2BR with my sis and her kids who are early teenagers.

Just wondering about the food, pools, buildings and wait times for buses etc.

Just looking for as much info as I can get. Even just misc. info.

Thanks

There is one pool with a slide, near check-in. There are 3 quiet pools. All are nice pools. There is a seasonal snack bar (pre-made sandwiches and drinks) located at the Turtle Pond quiet pool, a larger snack bar (Good's to Go) located in the main hospitality area, behind Olivia's, the table service restaurant.

Olivia's generally has good food, and really nice breakfasts. Service is very good, but relaxed...so don't be in a hurry.

Bus service is on par with other resorts, there are 5 internal stops at OKW, conveniently located throughout the resort. AK and MK are the furthest. OKW is connected to DtD by both bus and boat.

Stayed there for the first time in April. Loved it. We stayed in a one bedroom in bldg 23. It was perfect. We had a great view of the river from our balcony. The 1st bus stop was right around the corner. It was a very short walk to the main bldg and main pool. If I stayed there again I would request the same bldg. or one very close to it.

Get prepared for the gasping, "Oh my GAWD!" reaction when your family walks into the 2BR for the first time. It's huge! You may want to take different colors of string to leave trails so you can find your way around. It's not actually necessary to pack a lunch for the trip from the master bathroom to the living room, but I wouldn't leave hungry. (just kidding)

As far as creature comforts in the room, you're going to have an enormous living/dining/kitchen area, a huge master bath with a separate laundry room with full-sized washer and dryer (NOT stacked). The second bedroom is a full studio with two queen-sized beds, and all of the other amenities of a studio.

We usually drive to theme parks from OKW because it's so easy. Last stay at OKW, however, we bussed to MK and that was quite painless and quick. We don't bus much, but the reviews I've heard are that OKW buses are the best in the system.

The boat to DTD and SSR is not a terribly efficient mode of travel, but it's very relaxed and enjoyable. The problem with the boats is they don't run very often and it's a bit of a longish trip.

The resort has a very relaxed, "home" feel to us. Some may call it a nursing home, but we like the quietness of the place. You'll also hear comments about OKW being "remote" from theme parks, but we find we can drive to virtually any park quickly. If you're bussing to Epcot or MGM, you could certainly get there quicker walking from BWV or BCV, but I can drive to either park in the same time.

DD5 loves the pool and slide at OKW. (We actually like the OKW pool better than SAB.)

OKW has a bit of a "condo complex" feel, as opposed to the beauty of one of the hotel resorts. That's not a negative to us, but there is no question that BCV, BWV, and VWL are more luxurious and opulent. We think the hotel resorts are prettier, but we enjoy the hominess of OKW more.
