Well I must say it was quite a good time THEY had, LOL. My daughter and her nine college-mates came down for spring break and they had a great time. Of course,I tried to stay in the background, cooking spaghetti and meatballs, tater tot casseroles, doing the towels every day and packing their lunches each day for the parks. Taking the same picture of them with ten different cameras LOL. Worked great with a 2br and studio, though I slept on the sofa, it wasnt bad but I had to go through their room to get to a bathroom which was the only drawback.

They would call me when they were almost ready to eat, and I would run over to whatever park they were at and deliver the goods :) (thank goodness for NExtel) I didnt mind though, as I wanted to save them money knowing the familiar poverty level stipend that students get. I smartened up after the first couple of days and had them fix their own sandwiches (i laid everything out) and put their name on it and write down their selection of beverage (the refrigerator and freezer were packed).

But i must say, they were the most polite group of girls I have ever seen and really enjoyed each other's company. The funniest thing i ever saw was when one of them hung the tail of a stuffed monkey on the ceiling fan, and turned it on low, LMAO.

I actually felt sad that I myself wasnt a college student too, thats how much fun they were having.

Well I got a package in the mail yesterday from UPS (at first I was afraid to open it as I didnt recognize the return address...some embroidery firm). I finally opened it today and inside was the most beautiful throw, embroidered with "Disney, March 2003" a beach scene and the words "thank you, with love". THere was a very touching thank you note with it, which gave me goose bumps. HOw thoughtful of them! Made all my little sacrifices worthwhile :) Mae

Wow! You are a candidate for Sainthood. Looks like everyone had fun. :)

Yes, they sure did, and I think everyone should take 10 college girls to disney Doug :)

You certainly are a wonderful generous host. I'd say you went above and beyond the call of duty.

It's also wonderful to see how much the girls did appreciate your efforts. This is just an overall "nice" story -- nice kids, nice dad, nice trip. :)

Thanks Pam but Im a mom, LOL. Her dad is one of those dreaded NON-Disney dads :) Mae

What fun you must have had, and how nice of them to give you such a nice gift! I have often thought it would be fun to have our nieces and nephews come down with us some time.

When I read the line, "everyone should take 10 college girls to Disney" I was just waiting for some smart remark. :teeth: Thanks for not letting me down RMD :)

You certainly went above and beyond.

Let us know what she says RMD :) That should be interesting:jester:

All I can say is WOW.....

PS RMD...Did you wife give her blessing.???

Beware studmuffins!.....they have more energy than you could imagine :):jester:

too bad it wasn't girls from Holy Cross! (Sorry....couldn't resist a little BC bashing!);)

Should have used Notre Dame, bigger rivalry

*smiles at viking*

I'm so sorry, Mae. I guess it was too early in the morning when I posted! For some reason I took the "Doug" in your reply as your sign-off. I should have seen the "grandmother" reference and that your name was Mae! I was wondering if a Dad would be doing all the cooking, but you never know.

In any case, it sounds like a wonderful time and you were a great parent -- MOM -- for helping this group have a memorable trip.

No problem Pam :) Robin on the Universal board gave me that Michael's grandma tag after I spent a day there with them:jester:

Funny thing is I have a deep voice and sometimes when Im on the phone, they'll say, "may I have your name sir?" and when I answer they say "oops, sorry" LOL Thanks for the pat on the back :) They were fun girls

Mae, Mary, SIr, Grandma......Ill answer to most anything

Sounds like you all had a great time!! My oldest DD has already asked about taking a group of friends for high school and college graduation!! She is only 11!!!!

It was sweet they were thoughtful of you and showed how much they appreciate all you did for them. That alone makes it worthwhile!! BC (and their parents) taught them well!!!

Im very impressed that you cooked for 10 every night.
Did you get to have any fun?

Reading about this and the thoughtful gift gave me goosebumps too! DS has already asked if he can have some of our points for his first "Spring Break" in 2005! I told him we need to get through high school first! LOL! Annmarie
