OKW - What area to request?

I just booked OKW yesterday for mid August 4 nights in a 1BR. I could not get the HH booking category because I have to pay one night's cash.

What area would you recommend? Is there an area that is easy walking distance to the main pool, community center etc., that has nice water views and is in a relatively quiet section? We will not really be doing parks for this part of our trip and will be spending a lot of time at the resort and checking out SSR for future trips too.

I have no clue what is good and not so good. The map is confusing to look at and I can't really judge distances from the south part to the community center. If anyone can help me out here, I would appreciate it.:)

We will be celebrating our 20th anniversary during our stay here and will have our 9 and 6 year olds. They love to swim, do arts and crafts, play sports etc. so it should be a very relaxing time. I assumed being near the action of the HH would be important, but if you can easily get here via a quick walk or car ride and there is another section really nice for relaxing, we might prefer that over the busier area.

TIA

South Pointe for relaxing.

that say just get on the bus when you want to go to HH.

now if you are comparing OKW to SSR - the community hall at OKW is not as nice. It can be downright LOUD.

everything is in one room - vs several at SSR.

the only buildings with elevators 62-64 are not consider to be HH - but are in fact very close (miller road)

We like Peninsular Road area and usually ask for a water view- it's close to the HH too--Kathy

Thank you both for the recommendations. About how far or how many minutes to walk to the main pool and HH from either of these two areas? It is so hard to try to judge this just looking at the map.

Are there specific buildings you would recommend? What do you prefer - first floor or highest floor? and why?

Thanks

Peninsular Road is the first bus stop when coming into the resort and just across the road from Hospitality House. I would guess the walk is anything between 2 and 5 minutes depending on the building.

South Point is about as far away from Hospitality House that you can get.

We love the Turtle Pond area. It is still quite far away from Hospitality House (only marginally closer than South Point), but the quiet pool in that area is awesome. It is huge and there is hardly anybody in there. They also have a pool snack bar there that is open seasonally and a great play structure for kids.

I had cash nights mixed with points last summer and I just requested Near HH and we were right across the street......it was perfect.

The only buildings available at the Peninsular road bus stop are 28 and 29. The others are all in the HH booking catagory. Those are the only buildings at OKW that I think have a negative view, and I would never request them. If you want a reasonable walk to the HH area (not sure why, since you are only as far away from HH as the nearest bus stop), then I would pick something in the Miller's Road area. Buildings 18,20, 21, 15, 16, and 17 all have at least some water view. We lile those buildings, but especially like 15. On turtle pond road buildings on the right side of the circle have water views, but some in the back do not. Also, Turtle pond is a long walk if you choose not to take the bus. We like 45 and 46 both for the quiet and views, and even if you choose to walk, it only takes about 5-7 minutes to get to HH.
