HI I was wondering what everyone thinks our chances would be to get a villa at okw at the 7 month window for the week before CHristmas. Also how crowded are the parks at this time?
THanks

If you call right at the 7 month window, you should be fine. Even if you have to waitlist, I think it would easily come through. Parks will be getting heavy, but not as bad as Christmas week itself.

Agree with Diane - as long as you call when the 7 month window opens, you should be fine. I don't think you will even have to waitlist.

Hi,
Brand new to this DVC thread, and have a question regarding booking, hopefully someone can answer. Seems like the people right here knew a thing or two about OKW villa availability.

We called today to book a villa at OKW for Nov, this being the FIRST available day we could book. We were told the villa was not available. We did get waitlisted. After a while, we called WDW reservations just for kicks. Turns out there was plenty available through them. We called DVC back, they said it wasn't in their inventory, so we could not book on points. I was upset (only a year and a half into DVC ownership, so maybe don't know all the rules yet), but I was a little steamed that just anyone could book if they are paying cash, but those of us that paid $50,000 for our DVC points CAN'T book. After 90 minutes back and forth between DVC and OKW/WDW reservations, there was nothing they could do for us apparently. We are still just on a wait list.

Is this typical? Do they hold separate inventories? Are there certain hints or tricks or people we should have spoken with? We had the "manager on duty" of DVC and he is the one who ultimately would not book it for us. I just didn't understand, when clearly there IS availability there through WDW why DVC couldn't get a room into their inventory.

For those of you familiar with the wait list--I know you posted to the above people that they would probably get theirs in December. Do you think we will get ours in November, and if so, when based on people's experience might that happen? We currently have a 2 bdr reserved at SS, but are hoping for the Villa, and would like to let the other members of our travel party know.

Sorry for such a long post, but it sounds like perhaps some of you might know or could help. Thank you!
Chris

I am not sure on the monthly avalability but I do know the inventory (available rooms) are seperately distinguished between DVC members and cash buyers. I believe i read on these boards that there is a 4% availabilty for cash ressies at every resort, every day.:)

Also when a member uses points for a DCL cruise, DLR hotels, the other non-dvc lodging options(concierge, intrawest, etc) or does an II exchange, those rooms are turned over to CRO to get cash to pay for DVC to pay for those other options.

you should definitely scan through threads here in the DVC section of the DIS and you'll learn a lot about your membership!

Thank you THANK YOU to the folks who have replied. Yes, I discovered these DVC boards just yesterday and found out very quickly that I can pretty much learn everything I need to about my membership if I scan through these boards. I appreciate the replies. Actually, I was rather surprised to find I have already been given the room, so it happened the same day I was waitlisted!

I will definintely be coming to the DVC threads, as I found out lots of information reading last night until about 2:30 am. :surfweb:

You will be leaving about the time we arrive! We are going to be in a 2 bedroom at OKW from November 18-29.
