OKW veterans: Should we rely on OKW buses?

The 30 minutes is for the Disney Transport ferry boat. They seem to run at 20 min intervals, so I've found that 30 minutes is a pretty good guestimate of time it takes to go anywhere taking a Disney ferry boat from anywhere

Ok....I didn't realize you were including the wait time. Because if you do hit it right, the ride is about 15 min. Thanks for the clarification starbox.

They seem to run at 20 min intervals, so I've found that 30 minutes is a pretty good guestimate of time it takes to go anywhere taking a Disney ferry boat from anywhere (including SSR to DTD or BWV to Epcot - and those rides are just across the water). If you hit it right and don't have to wait for a boat, it will be quicker.

Some of the time they go at 30 minute intervals or even longer. And if they're full, you must wait until the next one. I would never count on the boats to get to or from DD unless you have a lot of extra time and are prepared to take the bus on the return trip if need be.

I am debating renting a car at OKW as well. We plan to visit many resort restuarants. But might just do a cab instead of the car (especially if we are little tipsy, LOL) Are they readily available? With car seats? How do you go about getting one?

Taxis are usually available...the bigger the resort, the easier it is. At some you may need to call one but they're usually in the area. I think you've come up with a good option. It would be interesting to see the result if you kept track of your taxi bill and compared it to the cost of renting a car. if you do, let us know.

You can call Bell Services at OKW and they will call you a cab. I had to do this at CBR this month. The cab came right to the main lobby withing 3 min---they're usually in the area. I don't know about getting an infant car seat though ? I suppose you could inquire on their availability. It cost me $8 (plus tip) to go from the CBR to the DD area just as an idea.

We usually take Disney transportation to the parks from OKW. The exception is AK, since in summer months, that also stops at Blizzard beach and takes a lot longer. That being said, we also usually have a rental car for transportation to and from the airport and grocery store, plus we like to do resort restaurants, and that is by far the easiest way short of taking a cab.

For the person asking about a resort to mini golf...Yes, you would have to do that vial DTD buses, unless you wanted to take a bus from your dining resort to Epcot, and then a water taxi to Swan or Dophin and a quick run across the street from there. We did the reverse once by catching a bus at Swan/Dophin to DTD and then to OKW, but that takes a LOT of time!
