Our family is divided about which area to request for our upcoming trip. My husband and I would like to be as close to HH as possible (didn't have enough points to book it)-I like to "shop" when we get back to the resort and then follow everyone back to the room and my husband likes to "snack" before we leave in the morning. The kids however, would like a renovated room. I know Thanksgiving is a busy week...so, could someone suggest a building request for Mom and Dad that would be close to HH-but not one so heavily requested that we won't have a chance of getting and a renovated building for the kids that is close to a bus stop. Just thinking if I have two options-maybe, I will be lucky enough to get one...Thanks!!

I'm afraid none of the non-HH buildings that are near HH have been renovated. The buildings that have been renovated are those in the Turtle Pond and South Point areas (bldgs. 30-56). The next area to be renovated is supposed to be bldgs. 11-14 which is HH. Here is a map of OKW in case you don't have one: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g303/GDuLong/OKWMap-January2008.jpg Buildings 32 and 33 have the bus stop right there. Also 45 and 46 have a really nice view of the canal but are farther from a bus stop. Although OKW seems really large, it usually doesn't take more than 15 minutes to walk to even the furthest point (bldgs. 49 and 50). So 30-33 and 45 & 46 might not be too bad for you. If you make a decision, I'd go ahead and call MS and ask them to note your request on your reservation. There are no guarantees, but near Thanksgiving when the resort is likely to be busy, I wouldn't wait until arrival.

It's not renovated yet but Bldg 62 is just across the street from the HH bus stop but not part of the HH designation. We stayed in a 2br this May (trip report link below) and it was fine.

Thanks for the quick reply! Are 30-33 renovated? So this would be good for the kids request? What about a non-renovated close to HH building-which is what Mom & Dad would prefer? I'm hoping to give DVC two choices-that way I can say I requested what everyone wants.:rotfl:

Yes, 30-33 are renovated. As the PP said, building 62 is really close to HH and has an elevator, but is not renovated. We also stayed there in the Spring, and thought it was in good shape, too. Building 16 is also nice. Both of those have lovely views, too. Good luck trying to please everyone!

Please remember that requests are just that REQUESTS and are not guaranteed. We find we do much better making our requests at the same time we book the reservation. I've always gotten my request by doing it early like that. I would think you will be quite a bit behind if you are just making your requests now, when it is just a month out.

Don't forget that every building at OKW is a quick bus ride from HH. If you get buildings 30-33, you will be near enough to walk, and also have a renovated room. The same goes for the best buildings at OKW...45 and 46! We often will stay there, and if we see the bus we need heading down to South Point bus stop, we'll just walk to HH and get there ahead of the bus just in time to board. It takes about 5 minutes to walk from 45 to HH. That distance would be about the same or slightly longer for buildings 30-33.

Buildings 62, 63, 64, 15, and 16 are all a close walk to HH as well, but none of those have been renovated yet. Be aware that 3 of those buildings contain GVs, so you would NOT want to be on the first floor with a GV above you.
