OKW Studio Suggestions??

Hello all, my wife and I joined DVC this spring and will be staying at OKW for the first time this July. We have 5 nights in a standard studio booked. I am trying to make a decision on the best building/room to request. We would like a nice view for sitting on the balcony and enjoying breakfast. We also would like to be relatively close to a pool and laundry room since we will be there for 5 nights. Being close to transportation is not that important to us since we will have our own vehicle with us. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the studios don’t have good views due to the trees around the villas. Studios are mostly located at the ends of the buildings. I would request 2nd floor, just a heads up, most villas there do not have elevators.

Avoid the three story buildings with a studio in the corner of the building. It doesn't have a window other than the patio door. These would be Bldg 18, 35 and 38 that are not Near HH locations. Bldg 14 is the near HH area three story building. All the others have studios at the ends of the buildings. Laundry rooms are at the pools.

I am thinking one of the low 40's buildings around the pool with snack bar. I have read where the snack bar is open seasonally?? Is it safe to assume it will be open in July? Would like to be able to grab a quick afternoon bite and drink without having to go to the HH.

35, 43, & 44 should be decent view for a studio, as well as 45. 46, and 55. The Turtle Shack is designated as seasonal, but it has been open on most of my trips.

Online it says open 11-5. But sometimes it doesn't open at all. July should be okay.

I have a request in for Old Turtle Pond area by the pool (Turtle Shack)...how likely is this request to be honored. Is this a highly sought area or am I likely to be ok with getting this location?

It may depend on when you will be there and it will definitely depend on occupancy during your stay. If you are headed there in three weeks, it looks like studios are mostly booked except for maybe two days. So you might or might not be able to get this area. One and two bedroom villas have all days available, so they have more occupancy.

We will be there in 18 days. I made the request months ago and then faxed in a request a week ago. I talked to my Disney Vacation Advisor to make sure it was on there and she said it was. I know nothing is guaranteed but we are hoping they fufill this request.

We will be there in 18 days. I made the request months ago and then faxed in a request a week ago. I talked to my Disney Vacation Advisor to make sure it was on there and she said it was. I know nothing is guaranteed but we are hoping they fufill this request.

On one trip to OKW we had requested South Point and when we checked in they told us they were sorry but they couldn't put us there because the resort was full. So you may or may not be in that location. Or you may be somewhere on Turtle Pond, but not right near the pool area. You fax may have been tossed out since DVC resorts don't usually accept any faxes.

DVC only gives out upgrades when there is nothing available in your booked category because of unexpected maintenance issues. You'll get your studio, but it might not be where you'd like it to be.

We are not staying on points - this was booked cash through Disney, if that matters?

I know you've received some good suggestions here but I wanted to add mine. My wife and I bought resale at OKW this year. We stayed in a studio earlier this year. We were in building 32 on Old Turtle Pond Road. The bus stop was right in front of our semicircle of buildings (buildings 32-35). We were immediately adjacent to the cul-de-sac with buildings 41-44. That cul-de-sac has a pool (with arcade and snack shop), laundry, and BBQ area. FWIW it is a lovely area. I'm sure everywhere is lovely and I'm not saying rooms elsewhere aren't better. Just providing some feedback. Oh, and there is ice at the bus stops and a vending machine. The bus stops have the signs that tell you how long until the next bus (thank goodness for this). Enjoy your stay!
