Disney's Old Key West Resort Slide Construction
Construction on the new themed pool slide for Disney's Old Key West Resort is currently estimated to begin in September, and not in the spring as previously announced, with work scheduled to be complete by the end of 2004. During construction of the slide, the pool will have to be closed. However, our Members and Guests are welcome to enjoy the resort's three other pools. Look for more details later this summer in Member Clubhouse and on dvcmember.com.

I wonder why they did not mention that as an option also. Am I reading too much into what they said or did not say? Any ideas?

Hmmm, yeah.....no mention of hopping over to the SSR pool  I'll be at OKW during the construction phase.

Thanks PAM. My kids are really looking forward to this slide going in.

I suspect that pool hopping will be listed as an option. SSR will be jammed packed I'll bet!:teeth:

Well.... I don't think they would HAVE to offer pool hopping. Normally they do this when they take out a "feature" pool, but not a quite pool. Since the current pool has no slides etc... the other pools could be considered equal to them.

Who knows?

When Luna Park went down for refurb at BWV they allowed guests to hop over to SAB. I wonder why they're not doing the same thing for OKW guests ?

I still consider the OKW main pool to be the "feature" pool. Even though there's no slide I feel it's still the flagship pool of the resort. The main pool has the hot tub, sauna, sandy play area & that giant sand pail thing for the kids. Even though there's no slide, I feel there is definite themeing here compared to the other smaller quiet pools.
So though DVC may not "have" to allow pool-hopping, imho, I feel they should as a courtesy to their Members there.

We probably need clarification and that can only come from DVC. If SSR is going to be included in pool hopping, then they don't necessarily have to point out that alternative to OKW folks. BWV people needed specific permission to use SAB since it is no longer part of the regular pool hopping program. I think BWV was granted access to SAB because, being next to each other, they swap out pools when one or the other needs refurbishment. Y&B folks are sent to BWV when there is a problem with SAB. OKW doesn't need to be granted access. It would make sense for SSR and OKW to have a regular "swap" program like the BWV/Y&B one.
