OKW Satisfaction Poll

This poll is for the OLD KEY WEST.
A reply on a recent post looking for positive reports on BCV stated when
“we do a survey and have people rate their experiences at the resorts. Overwhelmingly, the polls indicate a high satisfaction level with all resorts.”
With this in mind, I am going post polls for each of the DVC resorts. This is not a resort bashing opportunity, but a time to rate your experience at a resort. Please only vote if you had stayed at the resort, not just visited. Because people rate problems differently – some hate lint on the carpet others don’t, some don’t mind waiting ½ hour for housekeeping to fix something others do, I am leaving it open. Rate it on a personal level for yourself.

I love OKW! I just plunked down $84 X ? of my hard-earned $ to buy an add-on at OKW, even though I own 600 pts at BWV, so I guess that speaks volumes about how I feel about OKW.

I voted "Excellent Exceeded Expectations".

OKW is our home resort. Since 1995 we've stayed there for 30 plus vacations for a total of 159 days. 151 of those days were in 1 bedroom or larger villas. I voted as I did due to experiencing problems on only a few occasions. We demand the highest quality from DVC and we almost always get it from OKW. Although seldom in frequency when problems with the villa (broken blinds, missing items) or problems with housekeeping (dishware left in dishwasher, garbage not removed) arise we inform Maintinance/Housekeeping immediately and ask that they repair/replace/clean at their earliest convenience.

As pleased with OKW as we are there is room for improvement. For example...the front desk should make more of an effort to comply with as many requests as possible. Floor, location and view are important to us as we spend more time in the villa than I believe most families do. Too often the front desk makes only a half hearted effort to secure the villa we desire. We would prefer to wait for the villa that meets our desires rather than get the first available.

With me it is OKW that is excellent but the guests behavior has changed over the years. I will only be going to OKW now in Jan so my contact with other guests will be less. The pool situation the last time I was there for example was out of control. I don't eat in Olivia's at dinner time because it can get out of hand in there also. OKW without the people is outstanding, so I rated it as excellent.

In so many stays I can't remember the number, I have never had a bad OKW experience.

Our first experience with OKW was a cash ressie in 1996. We were hooked immediately on the room size, landscaping and peace. In 1998 we ended up buying in at BWV through Disney, and then in 2002 bought a resale at OKW.

If you love OKW, a resale is the way to buy in, rather than through DVC. Excellent value and a beautiful resort. We feel like we are "moving in" every time we go. It has neighborhood feel to it.

Last summer we had a reservation for a week at the Vero Beach Resort in June. Unfortunately, a family emergency a week prior required us to cancel. My husband immediately worked to reschedule our points in holding for later in the summer. The only 2-bedroom left the third week of August anywhere was at OKW. That was our first trip home and we couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. We loved the laid-back atmosphere, and all the space!! There were a few issues with the room, like broken blinds, but nothing major.

I can't wait for our stay at VWL next week, but I'm mentally preparing myself for a smaller, more "cozy", 2-bedroom and no parking right out front. I hope to eventually stay at all the DVC resorts and see what my favorite is.

Excellent. Best DVC resort, hands down. Doubtful they could or would ever top it. We enjoy the other resorts, but OKW is still number one for us.

We love OKW, it is definitely HOME. It has a neighbourhood feel like joepoe says. The rooms are huge and it's so laid back!
