I'm headed down to OKW for a 3 night stay with my best friend, and I'd like to be not too far from the main area. Any suggestions on what building/room to request (staying in a studio)?
TIA

NOT Building 22!:rotfl: We were just there in Aug. for the first time - the place is very spread out and we HATED the walk to main pool / store etc.

Looking at the map I'd say any of these buildings would be among the best (most central locations) and have the shortest walks:
11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 62, 63, 64, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27

If you you get anything else you'd better like to walk!

We are staying at OKW in Nov and I asked the same question months ago. Here is the link of my thread. Look all the way through it. There are some great suggestions to figure out what is right for you. Make sure to read them all because some ppl added things I never thought of. Like... not staying in a studio that would be below the GV because they have hardwood floors and it is really loud for the ppl in the studio. Never really thought about that.

Hope this helps.

We've stayed in building 26 before. It's a great location. It's a short walk to the HH and there's a bus stop right out front. Have a great trip!

Is the location, all the walking, the only reason you disliked Building 22?
BTW, I got a chuckle out of your screen name.

We actually LOVED the view from building 22, but then, we were in a GV there! The walk to the bus stop was a bit long, but the view made up for it.

Except for 62, 63 & 64. those buildings are the new "Hospitality House" category at OKW. It's a new booking category for OKW (points are the same, but you know when you book if you will be in one of those buildings).

Buildings 62, 63 & 64 are the "special needs" buildings - for those who need elevators. I'm sur3 you can request to be in one of them, but it sounds like they will be assigning them to those who have medical/special needs ahead of the rest of us.

So anyone who wants to be near the Hospitality House, should call and see if that category is available for their stay.

We just stayed in building 26 and have stayed in many others before that. I second the vote for building 26 because of it's closeness to Hospitality House and the bus stop (first people off when you get back from park and few steps to our room!), with the added bonus of water view and golf view together - love feeding those ducks!!! Building 33 was also nice, but not a quick walk to the front or first stop on the bus. Have a great trip!

Even though the map makes it look like some of the buildings are far away, they are not that long of a walk. On one reccent trip, we were in building 48 in the only ground floor entry GV. From the map it looked a long way away, but it actually took us less than 10 minutes to walk to the HH. And, that was with pushing a wheelchair and a 70+ woman with some foot problems, so were not exactly speedy. My FIL, who had bad knees and hips just got on a bus whenever he wanted to go to HH and that worked out fine for him.

Yes, the walking was the only problem...view was nice enough...the bus stop was several minutes away & the main pool was probably a solid 8 min. walk - with a kid (or kids) & "your stuff" that's far. The "quiet pool" was by the bus stop - much closer - but not what DS wanted!! We only talked him into going there one day. We're the commando types at the parks - so we'd go out early in the am....come back to the room around 2:00ish 'cuz DS wanted to swim. Change. Walk over to the main pool for an hour or so. Walk back. Shower. Walk back to the bus stop to go out again for whatever EMH or P & P party or whatever until 1:00 am. We were BEAT with all the walking... Nobody to blame but ourselves - but we'd had enough of the hike to the HH / main pool by about day 3!:rotfl: We would rather be closer to "stuff"!

How about ground floor close to parking? We will be in an out carying a lot of gear (water ski equipment).

Any suggestions?

All units at OKW are close to parking. The parking is right outside your door! Of course, if you are on the 2nd or 3rd floor, you have steps, but we find the low rise steps to be very easy, even for our aging arthritic knees and hips.

We just stayed in Building 17. It is about a 3-minute walk from HH and about a 1 minute walk to the Millers Road bus stop and quiet pool.

OKW is my new favorite resort to stay in. Loved how quiet it is, plus the abundance of palm trees.

Well, MinnBoy! Looks like you are another "neighbor" who loves OKW!

Yep! Just got back from OKW on Saturday. BWV used to be my favorite. OKW just resonated with me for many reasons. Quiet. Beautiful grounds. Awesome pool area. Need I say more! :thumbsup2

We stayed and liked building 64 (or 62,63). We would probably request building 24 next time because of the way the busses work. We picked up the bus at The Hospitality House on the waytothe parks. It was the last stop and we went right on out of the complex. On the way back to OKW we would get off at the first stop (next to bld 24) and walk across the bridge to our building. By doing this we saved about 15 minutes.

Plus, we LOVED the relaxed atmosphere at OKW!...Have Fun
