Is there anything I should look for or keep in mind when looking for OKW resales on the internet?

Here's some advice from my recent search for a resale. This would be true for any of the DVC Disney World properties:

1.) There are 4 broker sites that specialize in DVC (all listed below). You should call each of them and provide them with the parameters of the type of property you seek. Many of the best properties are sold before they even make it to the web listings.

2.) The best property resale deals will include "banked" DVC points from the prior use year. With these types of deals, you are basically getting a bonus vacation for free, as the prior owner has paid the dues for the prior year and will normally not ask the buyer to pay those prior year dues.

3.) All offers are negotiable, so you can certainly make an offer lower than the seller's asking price. Keep in mind that Disney's "Right of First Refusal" (ROFR) prevents resales from selling at too low of a price. For OKW, that floor appears to be somewhere around $65 per point (with the buyer also picking up the approx. $500 in closing costs and the current year DVC dues).

4.) Don't even bother considering properties where the points have already been borrowed from the next use year. The price discount doesn't even come close to compensating you for the loss of those points. To a lesser degree, you should also avoid properties where most of the current year points are already depleted.

Good luck in your search. Here are the sites I followed prior to my DVC resale purchase:

Thanks so much for the great information. I will be calling all of those sites. I really appreciate the heads up. I'll let you know what happens.:earsboy:

Wow! Really good and comprehensive advice Jeffport. I'll just bookmark this for when we get aound to our add-on...

I might also add the old saw: Buy where you want to stay, not that there aren't enough folks offering that advice around here ;). And perhaps also note that you will need to keep an eye on annual dues since you are going to need to come up with those every year as well. Also worth considering is the question of use year: generally folks recommend that you choose a month just prior to your usual WDW vacation time, so you have ample time to reschedule or bank points if you should your plans ever be interrupted.

Good luck
