My son (11) and I just returned from our first trip home at OKW. We were there 3/17 - 3/21 and the only big negative was the shortness of the trip.
We got to Orlando a day early and stayed off site the first night. We got to OKW at 8:00 the next morning and only waited about 5 min to check in. The CM was very helpful and check-in was smooth. We got our only request (non-smoking) and was told to call back around 3:00 or 4:00 for our room number, so we hit the park. We got to MGM by 8:30 at took advantage of what was left of EMH that morning. Our room was not actually ready until almost 5:00, but that was not really a big deal for us since we were already in the parks. We were in Building 27 with a lighthouse view out the front and the LBV #5 fairway view from the patio. The building was right beside the bus stop and walking distance to the HH and pool. After reading these boards, I was probably more observant of the cleanliness than I would normally be, and aside from the patio....(which I am sure is difficult to keep clean) there were no issues. We were very happy with everything. We also rented a water mouse and took it over to DTD one afternoon for a change in pace. My son really loved that.
The overall crowds were heavy, but not overwhelming. Afternoons got really jammed, but with morning and evening EMH and good fastpass strategy, things worked out great. Even thought it was a short trip we still got in everything we wanted. We got our first ride on EE which was awsome, MS 3 times, RRC 3 times, and all other major rides at least once. Fantasmic was cancelled for technical reasons the day we were at MGM.
We hat two celebrity encounters, although neither can be considered "major". We rode the RRC with Denise Austin of TV fitness fame, and we rode the river ride inside the Mexico Pavillion at EPCOT with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. Both were with their families and were very friendly.
Our meals were also good, but not outstanding. We ate at 50's Prime Time at MGM, and although our food was good, our server was not really in character which is the fun of that place. Sci-Fi service was very slow even though we were one of the first families seated for the day. Whispering Canyon was also good, but not the quality as in the past. Our best meal was the Character meal at Liberty Tree Tavern....great food and super character interaction. Also good food at Earl of Sandwich as we were leaving for home.
Overall the trip was great and would be rated around 8-9. We already have trips planned for a week in June (BW) and 5 days in October (VWL). I am hoping those trips are at least as good ats this one.

welcome to the Dis. Sometimes we get threads brought from the dead 5 or more years old.
If I'm wrong... I apologize.
