I searched and searched before my trip to find pictures of the renovated studios and came up fairly empty handed. Since I stayed in one this weekend I took lots of pictures!

We were in building 50, so I have no idea which buildings have been renovated. They offered me this room since it was available when I checked in, and since I wanted a room I didn't ask if there would be a renovated room available closer to the HH later. It was quite a hike, but the room was great!

Now they look like Old Beach Club West.

Why, oh why, would you paint some of the furniture dark brown and leave the rest the pickled pink color? And still more paint or leave white (table and chairs)?

The transition from the sleeping area into the bathroom is like night and day. For a complete renovation, there was zero renovation in the bathroom.

From blue/brown/tan to pink/green. :confused3

Thanks so much for the pictures... I agree, the transition from the blues to the pinks is stark. I would have thought they could have picked something that flowed better. The Blues are very pretty, I actually like the room and the way it looks, but you are right, My first impression is blues to pink. The different wood tones and paint do not bother me much, as I have seen that alot in the newer kitchens here in the mid west.

Maybe they were thinking about saving $ for us in the reserves and decided to save the pink tile. It would have been very expensive to tear out all that pink....Or should we be calling it "ocean and sea shell???" :) Also, if we look at the buildings of Key West, it's all about being ecclectic.. all colors and they all go well together, I guess I'll just have to see them in person...:hippie:

I actullly like the blue too, but it's the carpet, spreads, and headboards that I don't think fit the theme at all. Looking like Beach Club was not the desired effect here. The desired effect should have been to look like 1900 Key West...Victorian...not beachy.

thanks so much! I haven't stayed at OKW yet but may in the future!

The innate charm of the OKW I fell in love with 12 years ago is definitely gone! I'm sure it's nice to have clean, shiny new furnishings and surfaces but it now appears that OKW has turned into the red headed step child of resorts, inheriting all of the left over furniture and bedspreads from the refurbs of the Vero Beach Resort and the Beach Club!

The look is no longer authentic OKW and I for one really miss it!!

I wonder when they redo SSR if they will put white washed mirrors in their bathrooms!

The room looks really nice. The only thing I don't like which others have said is the dark head board and the headboard in general. I love the blue though in the room.

If I'm on vacation I love anywhere on Disney property. Lol

I am looking at these again, so now I see that the pictures are the same ones that were there before and the blue goes very well with all of them. Is the carpet pink or tan? Is the fan coral in the bedspread pink or tan? What about the stripes in the shades? Pink or tan? I believe that may help me decide if I like it or not??? I really think the old bedspreads in the studios were not that pretty. The were too bright and not that "victorian", really 80's.... ( and I liked the 70s and 80s :hippie:. ) They were busy and not that serene... these are growing on me..:cloud9:

Everything in the room part of the studio was in the tan, and blues family. I never saw the old studios, so I don't have anything to compare this to, but I thought the rooms was very nice.

I think they look lovely. (I don't have a basis for in person comparison either.)

THANK YOU for taking the pictures and posting! Did you enjoy the resort? We are planning on staying there this summer.

I it's beautiful.. MUCH better than before. I felt the old rooms screamed 1980's... I had no desire to stay there. Now I may have to try it.

That is my thought too. I expect to be able to see Illuminations from my balcony. I wonder why the original themeing could not have been retained with new furnishings?

Thank you so much for posting, we are heading to an OKW studio in January. Can you tell me how the transportation was? We are debating on renting a car.

Transportation at OKW is some of the best in all of Disney. It is the one place we feel we are better off taking buses than driving.

Thank you so much for posting and sharing. I miss OKW. I hope you enjoyed your stay here.
