I am looking at a possible trip to WDW for Dec 28 - Jan 5, plus or minus a day on either end. We will be finalizing our dates in about a week, but are wondering how hard it will be to get DVC reservations. We would want a 1BR OKW, but would accept a studio or 1BR at other DVC sites (after getting into 7 month window).

My resale closed last week and am so looking forward to the trip!

EVen if you need to use the waitlist, I'm sure you'll have success getting the dates you want!

Enjoy!

Actually, I just got a 1 BR at OKW for over New Year's last week. Was told there were studios and 1 BR's left, so I would think your chances would be good, even at the 7 mo. window.

We just cancelled a 1 bedroom at OKW for 12/28 - 1/2. Maybe one of you got, or will get, my cancelled villa. Boo hoo for me, but great for you!

We will be there 12/28-1/02/04! We were there the same time last year and had no problem getting them at 6 months out. Its a great time, that's why we are going same time again(with a June trip inbetween).

We reserved a 1bdr at BCV at the end of March for a stay 12/31-1/05. It never hurts to asks and I do think this far out, the waitlist would come through. Good Luck!!

For NYE, the one thing you can probably not count on is being able to get a standard view at BWV at 7-months. That's probably the single most difficult ressie to get. Especially if you're looking for a studio.

Outside of that, the waitlist can work wonders. OKW, being the largest resort will have the greatest number of openings still available at 7-months. Even if it's full now, waitlist it. Many people book OKW but waitlist at another resort. When their waitlist comes through, that opens up OKW for someone else's waitlist.

Thanks for all the useful input here. We are new OKW owners and have always travelled to WDW right at the New Year's Eve/Day timeframe. I was concerned at being able to get in at the days between Christmas and New Years, but you have made me feel better about likely availability.
Fortunately for us, we are flexible enough that any resort or room size would be acceptable (at least for this first year's trip).
