OKW Main Pool - Lifeguards?

Can someone please clarify this for me. I've read some recent threads and I believe this is correct but I'd like to know for sure. There are now lifeguards at the OKW main pool because of the slide installation. Is that correct? And can you only swim there when lifeguards are present or is it that you can only use the slide when they are present?

I keep reading in various sources about no lifeguards anywhere at OKW pools. But I think it's old data.

And is that main pool still the only one at OKW with lifeguards?

Thanks!

The lifeguards are on duty while the slide is open. When it closes (not sure the hours) you can still swim in the pool, just not use the slide. The main pool (the one with the slide) is the only pool at OKW that has lifeguards.

It's the same policy at all the WDW resorts -- when a pool has an open slide, there is a lifeguard. When the slide is closed (or if there is no slide) there is no lifeguard. There may be a few exceptions (not sure what happens at All-Stars) to this but it's a pretty good "rule of thumb".

::yes::
That's exactly what we found in April.

the value resorts have lifeguards at all their pools (no slides)

because WDW is expecting more little ones to be in the water.

these lifeguards (at least the ones at POP) were watching the little ones.

so the adults, teens and in some cases pre-teens were on their own.

Animal Kingdom Lodge had four on duty with them switching poisitions at three different locations what looked like every 15 minutes. I thought they did a great job and were very quick to dress someone down for various offensives. Examples would be going down the slide head 1st and having someone on your shoulders in the pool. Never did see anyone dive in head 1st which is a big no no... I thought they closed the pool a little to quickly and were slow open after a thunder storm went through but who can blame them for being on the side of caution.

We were at OKW last week and there were 3 to 4 guards at the main pool. 3 on duty and a relief. We were at the Miller Rd quiet pool once when a guard appeared and checked in the pool and also picked some used towels up and left. It appears the relief also goes around to visit the quiet pools.

I thought the lifeguards were doing a very good job at the OKW main pool in April when we wre there. It was spring break week for hte Northeast & the pool was crowded each day. The lifeguards were paying close attention to the surroundings. When the lifeguards left for the day, the slide was closed.
