OKW locations

looking to stay at OKW to save some points since next trip will be taking SIL and her family and need a 2 bedroom. Worse case senario how bad it is to get to the main pool from some of the farthest buildings. We will have two 2yr boys on the trip and I am sure they will love the toddler pool and sand area. I know there are other pools but the kids will want to go to the main pool. Looking at the map it looks like there are not a lot of walking paths to get around. I have just return from staying at SSR in the springs section and was spoiled how close the main pool was.

First of all, there are sidewalks on all the roadways in OKW. That makes it a rather direct walk. However, the easiest and fastest way to take a bunch of people to the main pool area from anywhere in the resort is to go to the nearest bus stop and take the next bus. All buses stop at HH last before leaving the resort, so you can use it as a shuttle to that area as well.

ask for a room near HH - this is not a request (it use to be) it is now guaranteed.

Just remember, though......

that the rooms in the "near HH category" have only one entrance to the master bath room, and it's through the master bed room.

Only buildings 30 and higher, have a separate entrance to the master bath.

If you can live with the one entry, then ask for the near HH category.

HOWEVER, like Diane said, it's an easy walk/bus ride to the main pool from wherever you are.

So these are the only buildings in the Hospitality section? I am assuming that becuase these are some of the first ones built they are the ones that only have one door to bathroom.

I have been booking this location. We are booking a two bedroom so that door you mention will come into to play. I guess I will have to run it by DW and see if it bothers her. Have these building already been through a Refurb?

Thanks again for your help. We want SIL's family to be impressed with the facility so maybe they will join and not need to mooch off us.

the only building with elevators 62-64 are nearby - but aren't consider part of the HH.

they are really closer than 23-26 - but walking to HH from these places can be almost dangerous - busy road you need to cross twice.

also don't like 11-14 for little kids - no crossing.

23-26 has a crossing (most of the villas are behind this section) and is the safest for walking with little ones.

so you need to pick - which means the most - an easy access to the main bathroom for your guests or a safe way to cross the street for your kids.

that say you might still end up in building 11-14 and no safe access. watch your kids carefully if you get 11-14 - this is the busiest area at OKW and cars are not watching for children. they should be but have seem too many near misses. this includes the buses.

people are trying to get to the front desk to get their rooms and that is all they are thinking about. the buses are only thinking about getting to the stop.

Bldgs #30 and higher have the second bathroom door. #29 and below have the single bathroom entry door.

It is hard to know where any particular bldg is in the rehab cycle, but I would assume those bldgs have gone throguh at least one major rehab cycle.

As stated above, HH is not a request but a booking catagory. If you are talking about this June, that is only a month away. If you don't own OKW but want to change to OKW/HH catagory at 7 months, I'm sure you can try just like at any other 7 month booking window.

FYI, there are plenty of buildings that are just as close as the ones in the booking catagory. Builidngs 15, 16, 17, and 18 aren't far away and are very convenient to HH. Also 27, 28, and 29, but the views from those 3 leave a lot to be desired. Frankly, I don't see much reason to book HH. If you are needing to get to the pool, you are only as far away as the nearest bus stop. All buses stop at HH last before leaving the resort. Also, the walking distances aren't as far as the map makes it look. Building 15 and 16 are examples of some that I think are plenty close to HH without being in that catagory. One thing I like about those two is that if you come out of the room just as the bus is heading down to Miller's Road, by the time you walk to HH, it will be coming and ready to board there. We have dont that tactic many times in those areas.

This will be for June 1-3, 2009 (& Sun 5/31) after my cruise. We won't be going to any parks, just plain 'ole relaxing. But we won't have a car, so I thought being closer to HH might make it easier. Maybe it doesn't matter, we've never been there before. Do the CM's really try to get you your requests? At BWV, it really didn't make any difference. Just curious if I should put much energy into the bldg. location requests (other than HH).

depends upon who you get. some definitely do. others fall back on your room assignment. although they were surpose to go first come issue. boy need to find that right word again....

Depending upon how busy the resort is, they may be using "roo ready" assignments, or they may do pre-assignments where possible, based upon your requests. It really varies seasonally, it seems.

You may be able to switch at check-in, since they are the same points. It would depend upon how busy the resort is, probably.
