Just checked into building 46. Studio. Very disappointed so far. Still just paper plates, cups, and utencils. Hair on the floor behind the toilet. Refridgerator defrosted and leaked onto carpet (it is soaked). Sauce stains on the table. The airconditioning vent has a half inch (no exageration) of dust on it. TV reception is fuzzy. I have been here less than an hour. Believe me the front desk has heard from me. Stay tuned for an update. I did not pay good money for this.

I hope someone at the front desk relays your message to housekeeping and it gets resolved!!!!

Not sure, but are you now suppose to ask for glassware in the studios? We had paper products on our stay (in the studio of a 2 BR lock off) a few weeks back.

While the housekeeping issues are definitely something to have taken care of, the paper plates/cups and plastic utensils are what should be in the studio right now. OKW and SSR have not yet switched back to glassware. They are in the process of installing special dishwashers and will put the glassware back into the studios once that is complete.

Sorry you're having the other issues though, and I hope they are quickly resolved.

Please keep us informed. Thats not something I would definately be bothering front desk about.

We're at SSR right now and will be checking into OKW on Saturday. I'm interested in how our room will be.

Be sure to contact housekeeping. Calling the front desk usually just puts you to a call center and not the actual front desk of the resort. We have always had quick responses by calling housekeeping first.

I hope you actually physically went down to the Hospitality House to register your complaints instead of just calling. When you call, you get a central number, and not the real front desk. Another course of action to take is to call housekeeping directly and in the case of the fridge, call maintenance directly. There are buttons for both on the room phone. I remember we once had wet carpet from the fridge leaking too, and it turned out that someone had unplugged the fridge, and the ice in the freezer had melted, and that was where the water came from. It was quickly discovered and fixed once maintenance arrived.

FYI, I LOVE the location of that building, but we too have had issues with the housekeeper over there. She tends to not leave the new soaps etc, on T&T day. You might need to call about that after T&T day too.

Housekeeping came by within minutes of my call and cleaned the bathroom. She then called engineering and they changed the filter on the airvents. All was done in a very timely manner. I am still not thrilled at the wet rug under the fridge. Beside these room problems, all the CM have been extremely friendly and helpful. My only gripe is against the ferry driver who pilots the boat from OKW to DTD. My wife and I were at the dock at 10:40. The first ferry of the day leaves at 11:00. We were at the dock with other members talking when the boat pulled awaypromptly at 11:00. The problem, he made no announcement about boarding and left with the 4 of us still standing at the dock. We had to take the bus to DTD. The return trip via bus was horendous. I swear they have cut buses to save fuel costs. We are eating at Olivias Cafe tonight. I will post a dining report tonight. By the way Huricaine Fay passed through yesterday, and it is still raining and will rain throughout our 5 day stay. Time to break out the ponchos.

The fridge thing happened to us during our stay at SSR in May. Someone, either housekeeping or the previous guest had turned the temperature waaaaay down. I've heard this a few times since and I'm starting to wonder if this is well-meaning, "Green", guests who are trying to help with electric usage. They figure they might not be using the fridge during their stay and don't realize that the thing will eventually defrost and cause a flood when it overflows the tray.

Hi Neighbor -
I'm in building 21 at OKW right now after spending our first 4 nites in a studio in Building 20.Hope your trip gets better - horrible to feel so aggravated from the get-go.Tho our studio wasperfect, when we moved to the 1BR, bell services opened the sofabed for me and out fell(and remained!!) popcorn, chocolate chips and a mint that fell out of someone's mouth. Needless to say, I was on the phone in a second and they came and cleaned it up.
I also found a 2nd bedroom remote behind the nightstand - lol - and I wasn't even looking, just plugging in my charger!
This unit wasn't ready til after 4 when we "checked in", either. Seems there should be a better system or they might think on hiring a few more mousekeepers!
Other than that, I'm thrilled with our first trip home - I will see you on the buses and hope it gets better for you guys!!

We had a 6:00 reservation and were seated 10 minutes early. The place was very bright and noisy. Many large tables with large parties. The table service was slow for the amount of customers. We waited along time to place our order and to get our check. Aside from that the food was very good. I had the strip steak and Olivias special potato's (potatos au gratin). My wife hat the maui maui (sp. fish). Both our meals were excellent but the woman behind us sent her prime rib back for being to tough to eat. I had ice cream for desert and ther serving was to large to complete. My wife had chocholate cake that she enjoyed. To those of you who do not already know the DDP no longer gives you an apetizer. Overall I gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

Studios have paper plates, paper bowls and plastic utensils. They used to have real glasses and mugs however prior to "mug gate". They will be back once OKW installs glass washing equipment. In the meantime, you can request real glasses and mugs from housekeeping.

ETA: The hotel-based DVC resorts did get their real glasses and mugs back some time ago. OKW and SSR will get them back once the glass washers are installed.

I don't know about anywhere else, but just returned from a studio at AKV. There were drinking glasses and pretty coffee mugs, but only paper plates and plastic silverware. I thought this was odd. I am new to DVC, so I am not familiar with "mug gate". I thought the paper plates and utensils were a bit tacky. I hope when we get the two bedroom next trip it will have proper plates and silverware. We will be doing a lot more eating in the villa next trip.

The mugs/glasses have returned to the hotel-style DVC properties. They will return to OKW and SSR once special dishwashers are installed to clean them.

Mug-gate: Some months ago, DVC removed the glasses and mugs from all studios and replaced them with Styrofoam cups. This was done with no prior notification to members. People who were staying there at the time reported housekeeping coming into their studio and removing the glasses and cups part way through their stay! They had glasses and mugs in the morning and returned to find they had been removed and replaced with a small stack of Styrofoam cups. There was a huge outcry from members and lots of emails were sent to protest the change. Not long after, the glasses and mugs were returned to the hotel-based DVC resorts. They continued to supply paper cups to OKW and SSR and said they were considering installing glass washing equipment at those resorts and if they did, those resorts would also get their glasses and mugs back. In the meantime, guests can request those items from housekeeping.

The rooms with full kitchens (1BR, 2BR, GV) have proper plates, glasses, mugs and silverware.

Just wondering, where the heck would they put a dishwasher in a studio?

These will be large industrial-type dishwashers for use by housekeeping so that they can deliver clean glassware to the studios when they service the room.
