Hi,
We will be stopping for 2 weeks in a studio August 2012. Does anyone know if the laundry facilities that are located at the various pools are free?

Thanks

Gaz

Approx 2$ each for washer and dryer, plus you will need to buy a mini box of tide they work really fast tho

When we were there last Aug they were free. Just push the coin slot in empty :). I took detergent from home but they did have a wee vending machine in there too. You will love OKW!!!

Laundry facilities have always been free at DVC resorts - just need to buy detergent :thumbsup2

Been free both times we have been but All ears OKW fact sheet states "at approximately $2/per load washer or dryer. Vending machines offer soap, bleach" No idea where thats come from.

Thanks everyone.

Was just a liittle confused because have read some reviews saying that they were free and some not. Guess if you put your coins in they will not throw them back at you:laundy:

Counting the days down for OKW next year, even though Cornish Pixie and myself are taking a Med cruise on the Magic this year.:cool1:

Thanks again

We had complimentary washing powder left a few times by mousekeeping during our stay last August, but never used the facilities. Maybe different this year with less luggage allowance going out and a 4 week stay

I think we will be in a similar situation. We are planning to visit Florida for about 26 days, two weeks of this at OKW, 5 days on the Dream, a day or two at RPR and the other odd days in a budget location on the 192, just so the ladies of the party can do some shopping. Our 2 week OKW visit will commence about 5 days into the holiday, so will probably need to wash clothes before going on the cruise, which comes towards the end of the holiday. We will have a car, so can pick up some powder in Publix before OKW.

It is the first time that we will be using the DDP. Really enjoyed your trip report any tips would be greatly appreciated. As a matter of interest, would you mind me asking what block you stayed in. We are staying in a studio ( would really like a 1 bed, but £600.00 swayed it for me) and have been looking at the resort layout and have requested block 55 and other blocks near the quiet pool, not the turtle shack pool. Now our daughters are older, prefer the quiet pool instead of the main pool.

Thanks for your help

My guess is that this was supposed to be a DVC 'perk' for members only - after all, you DO pay to do laundry at non-DVC Disney resorts. Internet access is free for Members (and their guests staying on points) but has a cost otherwise ($15 a day?), but unlike the internet, charging non-members for laundry would be difficult.

I've had at least one studio stay every year since 1996 and it has always been free. The washing powder is not normally provided in the studios (but a starter pack is given in villas as they have their own laundry facilities).

We were in Block 21 (Room 2120) on Millers road - very near to the bus stop and also a suoer quiet pool & hot tub There is also laundry facility within the quiet pool complex.
Wayne (wayneg) & Martin (burt) where also in the next blocks to this.
Would also like this block again in August.
We are at OKW from 01 - 21 Aug then on the Dream for 4 nights, with a couple of nights before & after this at Bonnet Creek Hilton
What dates are you at OKW?
Shall we see you at the Dismeet there? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2621880

We were in block 19 in a studio which we loved but our balcony looked right at the bus stop. Good for walking back but we could have chatted with people at bus stop - bit close!!

I don't mind where we are this year.

And BTW we got boxes of tide in our studio from lovely mousekeeper.

washers and dryers were free at OKW in october.

I think we got one box of powder then bought my own. Used the laundry room by the turtle pond pool a lot. Was always quiet as only the studio 's need to use it rest have in room facilities.

We are there 2012 I'm afraid. Would love to have come along.
We are on the Magic this year from Barcelona, without the children!! The grandparents offered to take them away this year to spend some quality time with them. It would have been rude for us not to take the opportunity for a break, so we booked a Disney Cruise. The children are o.k with this as they know we are going back to Disney next year and are sailing on the Dream.
Will be a little strange without them, but I'm sure we will enjoy ourselves!!!

Cheers
