OKW Landscaping Tour

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had a recent copy of "Hank's Happenings" from the OKW. Back in January, a resort landscaping tour was offered on Wednesday mornings at 9am, and I was hoping that it was still on the schedule. My brother-in-law is joining us in two weeks for the first time, and he loves to putter around in his garden. I think he'd love this.

Has anyone ever taken this tour? Comments would be appreciated if so!

About 3 summers ago I took the OKW landscape tour.

I really enjoyed it. It was just me and the gentleman in charge of landscaping. We walked around the resort, mostly near Olivia's, and he described all of the various types of palms, grasses and ornamental shrubs, and the challenges associated with growing them.

It took about an hour if I recall. I was given a list of the various types of plants there and a laminated bookmark.

If you are into landscaping, palm trees, tropical plants, etc, I'd highly recommend this tour. The price (free!) was also nice.

This was three summers ago, I don't know if any changes have been made since them.

I have taken the OKW landscaping tour twice. It was just my co-member and I in a drizzle the first time and me alone the second time. It was very informative and the CM who does it had lots of answers about how and why they use certain plants, how they control pests and feed all those plants!
The only disappointment was to learn that someone had 'appropriated' the bananas from the banana plant next Hank's the day before. Booo to such mean spirited folks.
The tour is usually not crowded so it is geared to suit your ideas, questions and interests.

A ditto for what the other have said. We enjoyed it very much and used it to get ideas for when we move to FL.

We were just there these past 2 weeks and the landscaping tour was still on Wed. mornings. I would have loved to have taken it but I broke my toe on the lounge chair at the pool and walking was not in the cards for me.
