OKW July 31 - August 8. Who else will be there?

Had to change vacation plans this morning and was wondering who else was going to be at OKW during our stay. There must be a lot of you because there wasn't much left to choose from.

Hello there!

We will be there 8/1-8/6...just a short trip due to $54 plane tickets. Didn't plan on going back so soon but, couldn't pass up the plane fare. It was basically the only expense...points, annual pass & disney visa rewards for dining plan. So, we'll be there 6/27-7/9 come home for 3 weeks and go back to our second home 8/1-8/6. How cool is that???? Then I'll be counting down to the Christmas trip...

We will be there from7/31 to 8/9. The first 2 nights we will be in a 2 bedroom(DH, ME, and DS and 5 friends) and the remainder of the nights we will be in a GV The cast of characters will be DH, me, DD, DDBF, DS, DSF,DSF,DSF, DSF, DSF and DSF. We are taking 7 boys (18) for their high school graduation. DD and DDBF are coming down on 8/2 after work and join us when we check into the GV and one of the boys will be in Tampa for baseball and will join us when his tournament is complete. Making the total in the GV 11 So can I say SORRY in advance to anyone staying near us

Originally we were going Aug 1-10 but changed our plans to go July 25-Aug 3.........after ready about GGoofy and those teen boys, I am happy as my DD17 will be bringing her friend17!!! LOL!! All they plan to do is lounge at the main pool!!! My other DD's (12/10) aren't quite into the 'boy' scene yet!!

So, between my DD and her friend and EEyoresmom bringing 4 teen girls..................this could be interesting!!!

And DS11 gets the attention of a lot of the girls in his class at school, so not sure how you got so lucky to have two DDs that aren't into the boy scene yet. It sure isn't that way where we live.

Don't worry, he is a good young man .....and nothing is going to keep him and his brothers away from RnR, ToT, SM, BTMRR, EE, SplashM, Dinosaur, .........well, you get the picture.

LOL!! I am sure my DD and her friend will be soaking up the sun at the main pool at OKW. They may go to the parks in the evenings when it cools down and may do the water parks, but for most of the time, they will be at the pool!! I am sure their eyes will be checking out the scenary!!! My DD has had enough of Disney but her friend wants to do the parks at some point...............so she will be dragged through the parks!!!

We have been going to OKW since she was a baby for 3 weeks a year and she is somewhat bored with it all!! Now my other two just love it and look forward to going back every year. They are actually upset we are only going for one week instead of two this summer!!

Looking forward to getting away...........even in the hot, hot sun at OKW!!!

Yes, the hot hot sun at OKW will be better than the most comfortable air conditioning at work.

I will probably see you checking out when I am checking in 8/10 early. We are at WL for 8/8-8/10 so I will be there bright and early to try to get my room preference (and maybe an earlier check in time).

Actually, you may miss us altogether. We may have to check out on the 8th. My DS15 has a football camp that starts on the 9th and we are trying to get the details about being back. We will either have to cut it short a couple of days, or possibly an early flight back for a couple of us.

I have seen a lot of recent discussions about problems with the buses, so I am interested in seeing if they have the problem fixed by the time we arrive.

I plan to try and do a trip report since this is our first DVC family vacation trip, and our first stay at OKW. I will take our laptop on the trip and try to at least give some live updates while I'm there, and maybe post some pics if I can find the time.

I have seen a lot of recent discussions about problems with the buses, so I am interested in seeing if they have the problem fixed by the time we arrive.

Looking forward to any tips you can share. DW, DD17 and I will be at OKW from 8/31-9/5. It's the first time we have stayed at OKW since November 2002.

Going to shorten our trip by a couple of days. DS15 has to be back for football camp on that Saturday, so now we will be checking out on Friday 8/8. We looked at some alternative ways to get him back early but we weren't able to work it out. Depending on some other things we are monitoring, we may be able to head down a day earlier though and be there on 7/31. At least then we could get settled in and have a full day on 8/1.

We were actually able to add an additional day on the front end of our trip yesterday, so we will now be at OKW July 31 - August 8 (sorry rbuzzotta, my boys will be there one additional day of your stay )

I can't wait to stay at OKW. My gut tells me WE ARE GOING TO LOVE IT. We almost bought into OKW when it was just the first Disney Vacation Resort...can't even remember if that was the name or not. We have regretted not doing that since 1993. So now my dream comes true to stay there for 8 nights. I have a feeling this won't be our last time either.

I have read so much about OKW that I feel the same way. I think this resort will be one that we check availability for quite often in the future. Let us know how your trip goes, as if we need any more excitement to get ready. We will be into the final countdown when you leave.
