Hi All,

Other than the regular buses, is there transportation within OKW? We have a 2 yo and a 3 yo, so we want to limit walking in the heat to the HH and the main pool. We have requested building 62, but perhaps staying somewhere near a bus-stop would be easier.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

No there is no other transportation within OKW other than the buses, but by the same token every bus will take you to HH every time prior to it's destination.

Can I ask why you requested Bldng 62?

Isn't Bldg. right across from HH? You wouldn't need to take a bus.

I called DVC and the rep suggested 62 for 1 br for a non-DVC member. They said that I probably could not get into buildings closer to the HH (11,12,13?), since I am not a DVC member. We are not that picky and I am sure all rooms are fine. Otherwise, building 46 seems to be popular too, as long as we take a bus. Some posts make it sound like riding the bus can be a hassle. I just want an easy way to the main pool.

Thanks again for the advice and suggestions.

Here's link to OKW resort map below. 62 is easy walk to HH but if that is area you want HH area (buildings 11 - 14 and 23 - 26) is a
~booking category~ that you may want to request if you haven't done so.

As pp mentioned bus runs regularly throughout resort and all will stop at HH (note bus stop locations on resort map)

Enjoy your trip to OKW :goodvibes, we  our OKW home !!

Bldg 62, 63 & 64 are the only bldgs with elevators, and they are often held for tose with mobility issues.

Bldgs 11 to 14 and 23 to 26 are part of a "Near HH" booking category, so unless your are specifically booked into that category, it is unlikely you would be placed there with a "request."

If 62 to 64 aren't available, the next best closest buildings are 15 & 16, then 27 to 28. They are all a pretty short walk from the HH area. No matter where you stay, it is best to try to avoid being outside in the hottest part of the afternoon.

Are you trading in through another timeshare via RCI/II? Other wise, I'm surprised DVC Member services spoke to you, they don't normally deal with non-members.

Yes - this is a trade via II. I did call DVC member services and they were very helpful and friendly and they were aware that I am not a DVC member. They even advised me that the Turtle Shack and pool are under repair. This made a very good impression on me.

I am sure we will be happy with whatever we get. I have not seen anyone say there is a "bad" location at OKW.

Thanks!

Stephen

Member Services does handle the arrangements for II/RCI guests, but won't deal with someone if we members rent out a reservation. :) You can add the Disney Dining Plan to your reservation if you wish, by calling Member Services at least 72 hours before you check-in. If you opt for the Dining Plan, you will pay for it at check-in.

As an II/RCI guest, you will not receive the DVC Member specific perks, like free internet, Annual Pass discount or member specific dining discounts but will have all the normal perks of cash onsite guests, like free parking at the theme parks, resort delivery of park purchases, WDW-wide room charging, etc.

Enjoy your trip.

In addition to buildings Chuck suggests, our family likes 45 or 46 and 55 or 56 - these buildings are convenient to South Point pool ( sometimes you may have quiet pool virtually all to yourself ) and there's South Point bus stop. We like 45 & 46 for view of Trumbo Canal from balcony, 56 has good view of it too & 55 as well although iirc 55 is bit more obstructed. Also ( you can see it on resort map ) this is where you can pick up the walking path to Downtown Disney if you think your family may like to take a stroll there sometime - it's a bit of walk (probably best if done early am or late afternoon & if kids have carriage/stroller) but we sometimes enjoy doing that going to DTD & then take boat back to OKW.

:goodvibes
