OKW in need of a good cleaning

We just got back from OKW and I have to say that I am a little disappointed. The GV we stayed in was very dirty. The rug was so bad, we didn't walk on it barefoot. The sofa and love seat had spills on them and we didn't even want to sit down. I have been to OKW and stayed in several GV and never had any trouble before. We have been member since 1994 and this is not the usual. I am going to write a complaint to them but I don't know if it will help. I am not happy with what I saw. Has anyone else seen this kind of thing? We stayed in 6323. It is one of the handicapped GV's. I was really amazed to say the least. I probably should have complained while there but I know they didn't have any other GV available. I will let you know what they say if and when I get a reply back. Oh, and we declined the extra 15 years while we were there. Would have anyway but certainly after what we saw!

Sorry to hear about your negative OKW experience. While I agree that contacting housekeeping while you were there would have been better, you should definitely contact member satisfaction. There is no reason why a GV at a great resort like OKW should ever be in that condition.

I want to assure everyone that this isn't the case throughout OKW. We're in a 2BR in building 16 right now and are very happy with the condition of the unit. Everything is clean and in working order. Merilyn, sorry you got a dirty unit; I agree you should have complained as soon as you saw there were problems.

My BIL/SIL are OKW owners and a couple of years ago, had the same experience in a 2-BR. Basically, my BIL ended up talking with the manager while they were there, and he gave them his card and said the next time they were down, call ahead. On their next visit, they did call him ahead. When they got to their room, the place was absolutely spotless. My SIL said the floor was still damp from where they cleaned the carpets.

Regardless, I think that this is going to happen with all of the resorts. They'll get to the point where they really need an overhaul, and that's when Dis will do some re-decorating and replacements. Otherwise, they'll probably just continue to clean and replace as they deem necessary.

I agree with letting them know. While I don't expect things to be perfect, they have no idea that a room is in bad shape unless we tell them. To me, it's unacceptable when you don't feel like you can walk barefoot on a rug or sit down on furniture because it's so dirty! Yuck!!! :scared: Good luck with your interaction with Dis. I hope they address the situation.

I would think the mousekeepers would report such things to management. I actually think they should be required to report such things. Why do you suppose they don't????

We just returned from our first stay at OKW...in a one bedroom and only for one night. We loved the resort and LOVED the room! It was spotless and in good condition, but I do admit some of the furniture and the bedding could use some updating. My thought was if I were an owner at OKW - I'd be much more inclined to purchase the extension if there was some updating going on. It just looked very early 90's. We will stay there again - as I said we loved it but the rooms could use a little pick me up. ;)
