After reading info I received from Wayne :worship:im 99% sure we are going to book OKW for 2 weeks in November. I have a quandry about room location. :confused3 I suffer from fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis, so can sometimes find it difficult to walk about. Those times would be my rest days from the parks, when I would chill out at the resort. It would be ideal to have a room really close to HH, do you think I would get one due to medical reasons. I plan to sit and read on the balcony and nip back and forward to the food court. I looked at the map and thought perhaps Building 11 but looking at it on google earth i might be sitting surrounded by foliage? Can someone recommend a close location, preferably ground floor, which is near the bus stop and HH and is more likely to have some sort of view

Building 62 or 64 have Elevators and are close to Hospitality House. They are usually reserved for people needing them for medical reasons. Well worth asking if you can get one of those as you could have a higher floor with better views then.

I'm afraid there is no food court - just 'goods to go' which is one of the places that I wish OKW would change because it really isn't very good. Olivias is right there though and good for lunches.

I have fibro as well, and we stayed at OKW for most of our 2 week trip in October. If you can book the Hospitality House category it is very close to reception, Olivias, and the bus stops etc.

You can request a HA room, I had a one bedroom with a roll in shower, which was just what I needed. The bed is also lower, which I didn't think would be an issue until I tried the standard one, and had a real problem getting on and off it as it was so high.

We were in building 14, and it was lovely. it had a great view onto the golf course, and the balcony was lovely to just sit and relax on.

Who are you booking with?

Do you want a roll in shower, which you can just walk into, and it has a shower curtain, and a floor that is flat to the rest of the bathroom, or the one bedroom and above has a standard shower with a step and a glass enclosure.
If you are booking a studio then you will either get a shower over the tub, it is possible to get grab bars over the bath to help you get in and out, or a roll in shower.

If it directly with Disney, then you will need to tell them that you need an accessable room, and make sure they speak to someone in special reservations to block it off for you as a need, not a request.
It is very important that they don't just tell you they will do it, but make sure they do it whilst you are on the phone with them, and confirm that you have got what you need. It should show up on your booking confirmation, if it has been booked properly for you.

I hope this helps, and if you have anything I might be able to help with feel free to pm me.

Thank you so much, this is really great info - I am going to book with Disney. It will be a studio for two of us. II believe the studios are all on the ends of the buildings - would I still have a nice view?

thank you for the info, i am happy enough with the 'good to go' it would just be for a lunch, as we will have dining plan and eat out for dinner. I didnt think about elevators but this is a good suggestion. are those rooms near to the bus stop which im most likely to get a seat at, as standing sometimes is out of the question for me.

From 62/64 you are between Peninsular road (first stop on way in so always a seat) and Hospitality House (last stop or first/last from downtown disney)

We were in building 64 last year - mum uses a wheelchair, although fingers crossed not as much on this next trip as previous trips! :goodvibes Because of the positioning of our studio, the patio that we had was pointless. There was only a small table and a chair out there - you couldn't fit much more!

We had a 'back' facing patio, so looked out over the lake, rather than the road. Only we found the shrubbery, both front and back of the room, to be so overpowering that the sun never got through and that you could only see across to the lake if you were stood up. If you were sat down, all you saw was bushes.

It may just have been that particular room, but it did mean we didn't go out on the patio - three of us just would not have fitted! Plus, we had to keep the lights on most of the day if inside, since it blocked off all the sunlight. The studios are all on the corners, at least in that particular block, so it can make it difficult.

Hope that helps a bit.

Sorry, I don't know much about the placement of the studios, but I think that you are right about them being on the end of the buildings.

I managed to dig some pictures out for you of our patio. The first image is taken from the room looking out at the patio, and then the other is of the view we had... standing up! lol But even from that you can see the amount of foilage and the fact that while the sun was out full blast, it was very dark in our little corner.

We had come to OKW after a week at SSR, where we had been in the building right next to the crossing/bus stop/swimming pool. Coming to OKW and staying HH, because the place is so spread out, it just seemed like an incredibly long walk from our room to the shops, and especially the swimming pool. But, it is as close as you can get - you could be the other side of the resort and require the bus to get to the pool! :rotfl:

Thank you all for your help. We have however just booked POFQ due to the small size and food court where I can sit and rest before walking back to room. I hope im not disappointed:sad2: , as I was looking forward to OKW but i think POFQ will be fine . Im still going to Disney after all
