OKW HA GV Question

In the past we have stayed in 2 different HA GV's at OKW - 1 near HH and 1 near Miller's Road. Are there more than 2? The reason I ask is when making reservations last week for 2/07, MS confirmed (after conferring with Special Services) a HA GV with no roll-in shower (not too big of a problem - although easier to have one). The GV's with roll-in showers were already taken. So would our's just be a regular GV in an elevator building? We're pretty sure the 2 we've stayed in each had roll-in showers. Does anybody know? Thanks!

My guess is it is a regular GV in an elevator bldg. I thought there were only two actual HA GVs at OKW, also.

I agree that probably means an elevator building. The actual completely handicapped GVs are in building 48, but there might be a first floor GV in building 16 too (can't remember for sure). Building 63 is an elevator building with GVs, but they would not have roll in showers.

To my knowledge, there is only 1 truly HCA GV at OKW. It is in building 48 and has ground level access to the main floor of the GV. There are 2 GV's in building 63 with elevator access, but I'm not sure whether either one is HCA with roll-in showers, etc. since I've never seen the interior of those villas.

Here is a building summary for OKW.

So building 16 doesn't have a first floor one?

Nope. Building 16 was where the model villas were shown to those taking the tour when the Commodore House was still there. The 2BR (lock-off) model was on the ground level and the entrances to the GV's are on the 2nd floor. The only GV with ground level access is in building 48. That building has 4 GVs- three with second floor access and the one (on the left side nearest the South Point Bus Stop) with ground floor access.

Thanks for your feedback. Looking at the map, I can tell we stayed in Bldg. 48 (1st floor entrance) and I think Bldg 63 which had an elevator. Do just 63 and 64 have elevators? Nothing like trying to figure out 11 months in advance exactly which room will be ours! We are big time over planners. Thanks again for your help.

Stayed in an OKW HCA GV in an elevatored building in January 2004 that I'm pretty sure had a roll in shower.

To be sure, I found my old trip report here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=496132

And yep, we were in 6322 on the second floor of the building and we definitely had a roll in shower. Unless, they renovated that GV and changed it between then and now? :confused3

Hope this helps and not just confuses you more. Lol!

It makes sense that at least one of the GV's with elevator access would also be HCA. There are four buildings at OKW with elevators - 62, 63, 64 - but only Building 63 has any GV's (2).

Thanks for the information - I have updated the OKW building summary. :)

Thanks. By process of elimination - or mostly because of all of your information and help - it appears that we will be in 6321 (?). The one to the left of 6322. We were in 6322 this past Feb. It did have the roll in shower, according to my sister. Did I read there are 4 elevator buildings or 3?

In January, the front desk at OKW said they have 3 handicapped accessible grand villas. One in bldg. 48 and two in bldg. 63.

Does any one have pictures of a HA Grand Villa? What are the modifications? My SIL is confined to a wheel chair, and we are assigning them the master bedroom, but what other modifications can we expect?
