okw gv in Jan? & myw w/dining

Will I have much trouble reserving a gv at okw with a 7 mo. window in Jan'07? We own at SSR and I wonder if I need to make 11 mo. gv ressie and then try to change to okw at 7 mo window. Any advice?

Also, last trip (before DVC membership) we did the Magic Your Way tickets/resort stay/with dining ($450 for 4 people/5 days.) It was a great deal for us. Can we still use this prepaid dining package as DVC members using points for our ressie?

No, you can't use the MYW meal plan with DVC reservations. I know, it really stinks. We love the meal plans too. Always got the dream maker silver or gold ones. There is talk that a meal plan similar to the MYW dining plan is in the works for DVC members but nothing is certain. We gave up hope on being able to get it and bought PAP's and the DDE card. We plan to use the passes for 2 trips (Dec 05 and Oct 06) so I guess it's worth it. I have to say though, that if the meal plan had been available with the MYW tickets we might have gone with them. We don't ever plan to cook in our villa. We wanted the kitchen mostly for beverages in the fridge. I swear, DH's main reasons for buyig DVC was a big fridge for his beer and having a washer/dryer in the room! He keeps talking about sitting on his boardwalk view balcony with a beer, while the clothes are washing!
As for the OKW GV thing, I'm sure others can help you with that more than me. I would think though that just to be on the safe side, I'd book the GV at SSR at 11 mos and then try to switch at 7 mos. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. How sad I am? Maybe they will change it before Jan '07. We will use the kitchen for one meal a day, but it was so nice for planning and budgeting.

If you can skew your trip by a week the following year, the AP would make sense because you would have two years worth of trips on it. With the AP, you can get the DDE card which gives you 20% discount on many WDW park and resort restaurants.

We were at DVC Jan 22-29 in three 2bds. While there, we found out that a GV was available. So, you never know. I always play it on the safe side and make sure that I have a reservation at my home resort. A reservation in the hand is worth two in the bush... or something like that!!

Just be careful that if you have to borrow points to book the original reservation and the OKW reservation doesn't require the same amount, you will have to use the borrowed points first, they do not go back into your next UY.
