I have read these boards for a number of months now and have found some really helpful information but this is my first post.

We recently purchased 150 VB points resale (with 150 banked points) and have just come back from our first trip to WDW on points. We had a great stay at a 2 bed at BCV in the first week but in the second week were due to go to VB (after a quick 2 night stop at AKL concierge on points!). As a result of Hurricane Frances our trip to VB was cancelled so I had to call member services to switch to another resort. Initially we thought we would have to switch into a 2 bed somewhere but when speaking with member services were told that we pretty much had our choice of where to stay. I tentatively suggested a grand villa at OKW and was surprised to hear that one was available 24 hours before our arrival.

We stayed at 2222 (easy to remember). The grand villa was great - we had so much space and a great view over the golf course. We loved it so much we are thinking of looking for an OKW resale.

We also went to have a look at the model rooms at SSR - they are very nice.

We are delighted to be new DVCers and look forward to many more vacations in the years to come.

Welcome to the Dis Boards

Glad you had a great trip even though Frances changed your plans a bit. But how lucky to get a GV.

Welcome Home to DVC!!

And Welcome to the DIS!

Sounds like you had a great trip! All told, it sounds like a lot of points used! Did you have 5 weekdays in the grand after AKL concierge? That would definitely be a dream trip for me:teeth:

Unfortunately we only had two days at OKW - we would have liked a lot more but we had to go home! In actual fact the grand villa is probably bigger than our home so we were tempted to stay forever!

We had stayed offsite at the two weekends of our 14 night trip (Portofino Bay the first weekend (very nice!) and Hard Rock the second weekend when Frances hit) to save points so in total for our two week trip we used about 320 points (we were lucky to find a resale with 150 banked points).

We did move around a lot but it wasn't too much bother and we wanted to try lots of different places.

We had planned to go to WDW every other year so we could double up points but we enjoyed it so much we might need to buy some more points!!!:)

I haven't even taken my first trip "home" yet (BCV) or even stayed at any of the DVC resorts, and I've got the add-on bug! I thought I might be crazy, but sounds like I'm not alone.

And it was great to hear that you got a Grand Villa just one day out. That is one of the main reasons I had been kicking myself over our BCV purchase - no Grand Villas.

Honestly, I could make a case for adding on at any of these wonderful DVC resorts, sight unseen! Just gald to be part of the club. And someday, maybe I'll scratch the bug bite's itch!

It sounds like you had great fun using those extra points! I also have the add-on bug and haven't been yet:teeth:

Hey, we stayed in 2222 our first GV stay! We are taking the same group back in a GV again in a month!

Glad to hear it all worked out and VERY good news.

We are trying to get a grand villa at OKW for next September (not letting the Hurricanes wreck my Magical time ;) ) but we have to wait until Feb 2005 for our 7 month window.

It brightens my spirits that you got yours 1 day out!

Were I to suggest something like a GV, I would just get a look like I was an idiot. I just can't pull something like that off. Maybe during a hurricane.
