OKW Extension

Could someone explain how the OKW extension worked? Was it offered to all existing OKW members? We are thinking about buying a OKW resale, not extended, and wondered if there was a way to make the contract extended? Thanks for any help.

Yes, it was for all OKW owners. It was not really an "offer" though, it was added to all contracts (by a decree from the Board) and owners had to choose between paying for the additional years or deeding those years back to Disney.

I'm sure DVC would be happy to sell resale purchasers the extension at the current rate which I think is still $20 per point. The original decree set the price at $25 per point, but the "incentive" back in 2007 was at $15 per point. After February, 2008 the cost rose to $20.

Some resales already have the extension included and all OKW purchases made thru Disney directly will also come with the extension.

As doc said, some resales already have the extension included. these extended resales don't sell for nearly $20 more per point than regular OKW2042 resales. it would be a whole lot smarter to just buy an OKW resale that has already been extended to 2057.
