OKW Early Check In...

You can "check in" at any time, your room may not be available. It really depends on how many people are departing on the day you check in, and whether any rooms were cleaned but available from the previous night.

On our recent trip to OKW, we chrcked in about 8:30am, our room was ready about 2pm. From our oveall experience, I'd say they have a room ready for us in the morning about 25% of the time, by 2pm about 35% of the time, and waiting until 4:30pm about 40% of the time.

On our last trips in April and Sept. we were able to get into the room before noon on both trips. We were given the option of a room that was available or of waiting until later. We gladly took the room available so sometimes flexibility is the key. We are hoping for early check in NYE but won't be surprised if the room isn't ready. We will be off site for two days prior after 5 nights at OKW and plan to be at SSR very early so we can get to the MK for opening. If the room isn't ready will check the luggage and head out after getting the room keys and number to call later in the day. Hope it works out for you - have a great trip.

On our trip in Nov. we were able to get in our GV at about 12:30. The CM was surprised that there was one available. We were delighted.

On another trip we were not able to get into room until 4:00 or a bit after.

And on the only other trip to OKW, we arrived at 10:30pm and got in our room upon checking in. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Kind of hit and miss. I would suggest going with the idea that the room won't be ready, but delighted if it is!

Our last trip to OKW, we checked in at 7AM and did not get into the room until almost 6PM. The previous occupants did not want to check out and they had to be evicted.

I have always wondered how hotels take care of something like that. Do they send security up or what?

We arrived at 8am the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Our villa was ready for us and we had a great location.

I suspect that your luck in getting into a room before 4:00 pm is based largely on how heavily booked the resort is when you go and how early the guests before you check out.

There is no way to know this beforehand. You're best off having plans to do something else until 4:00 pm.

I believe your room is pre-assigned to you at most of the resorts. The times that I had to wait was because the room I was assigned to wasn't ready, not that they didn't have any rooms available. I just called the # I was given for checking the room ready status and requested another room that WAS ready. Both times, I was able to check in right away after making the call. Once was at OKW and the other at BCV.

I've had better luck at SSR and never had to wait for a room and always had some choice of where I wanted to stay. Of course, that was during the slower times of the year, not around the holidays or spring break.

This seems to vary seasonally, and by the types of requests you make at OKW. When having just one room, we are often (not always) given our choice of several locations when we check-in (assuming the resort is not fully booked). When traveling with other parties, where we request that the rooms be near each other, they seem to obviously be pre-assigned to meet that "nearby" request. Sometimes one of the rooms will be ready, but we'll have to wait for the second...or sometimes we have to wait for both.

We got to OKW around 2 and our room was ready. We were also merging 3 separate reservations and between 2 contracts so we did have to re-check in one day, but we didn't have to switch rooms. Another time when we were checking into BWV, we did have to wait until after 4 to get our room, but luckily we were able to keep ourselves busy until the room was ready.

We arrived about 12:00 noon on a Saturday in November, 2006. We had a 2BR with medical non/smoking. When I was told our room wasn't available, I asked if a room was. She told me that we had a room that meet our requests and we shouldn't change. Since we had the medical n/s I didn't want to take a chance. We got all requests - close to HH, first floor and medical n/s.

We ate lunch and hung around for a while. The room still wasn't available at 2:30 so we went to the park for a while. When we came back before dinner, we had a room and it was perfect!

We did have to wait until official check-in time, but we did know this ahead of time, and the room was everything we asked for. Since we had a rental car we had someplace to safely keep our carry-on bags.

All, in all, worth the wait!

I've checked into OKW at 7 AM and got our room right then. Then other times I had to wait till 5 PM. Good luck.

Thanks all! I will hope for the best. If I can't get in early I'll just have them hold my bags and go...

At OKW :
in Nov 2004, checked in at noon ...got room at 5 pm.
in Aug 2005, checked in at 10 am and got in by noon.
in Aug 2006, checked in at 10:30 am and got in right away (had choice of 3 different rooms).

I guess we were lucky...I got to OKW at 12:30pm on 12/23 and got a room right away...yeah! If only it could be that way all the time! Thanks all!
