OKW-do we really need a car?

Buses are fine. And, anytime you don't want to wait, just Uber.

Even when we have a car, we use the buses most of the time.
We drive to water parks, and to other resorts for meals, but uses buses for all other routes.
From OKW or SS, 1.5 hours each way sounds extreme. My wife has to use an ECV and each one takes 5 minutes to load. Max 2, so max delay 10 minutes. At SS we always stay in Grandstand which is the first to pick up. Average wait 10 minutes. Average ride 30 minutes including rest of the stops. Extra time for 2 ECVs: 10 minutes. Total time 50 minutes. Sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more. OKW was about the same. On every trip, we'll have one terrible wait for a bus that is very late. That one case will be an extra half hour. Almost every trip that happens once, but rarely more than once.

We always take the bus whether we have a car there or not. I wish I could remember how long the bus circuit around OKW was but it didn't seem very long at the time (unlike the time we took the bus around POR which took forever).

I have to disagree. OKW has at least 5 bus stops. AKL has only 2 so the amount of stops is tripled at OKW adding in that time as well. And at OKW this happened the whole week we were there. So it was not a fluke as you suggested. I could see it happening here and there but each time each day. Maybe more scooter bound people travel in January? But that was my experience. So ever since we rent a car.

Yes it has more stops but as to scooter guests, that is not limited to one particular resort. You could have just as many scooter users at another resort.

We're staying at OKW first week of January. We are not renting a car. Staying in Hospitality House area. Just the two of us. There is nothing we are doing that we can't plan for bus travel times. We just roll with it.

We always rent a car at SSR but have friends that stay at OKW for 2 weeks without a car and manage fine. We like to go to walmart, like Sammie said dine on and off property.

Don't forget you also have the boat to Disney Springs and lots of dining there!
