Hi! I just recently booked my trip with a stay at OKW. I was wondering if the balconys are on the back-sides of the buildings (to view a river, golfcourse, woods etc.) or are they on the front too (a view of the parking lot). I requested a few different building #'s hoping to get a river view from the back side of the building. I hope I dont get the building I requested but am stuck with a view of the parking lot. Anyone know the building/balcony layout and if they are only on the "backside" or not :confused3 . Sorry for the dumb question, but thanks for any help!

Balconies are always to the back or side of the buidlings. End studios are to the side. One bedroom and larger units have the balconies to the rear. The front areas that look like balconies are the open walkways to/from the front doors of the units.

We've stayed at OKW quite a few times, and would say that all balconies have had a nice view. We've had different views of the golf course, a couple of river views, and once had a view of one of the quiet pools. I can't think of any situation where you would ever have a parking lot view. OKW is a very nice resort and I'm sure you'll like it there.

All the balconies are on the backside of the buildings. Most have a view of the golf course. Some have a view of the waterway that leads to DTD. Some have a view of a wooded area.

IMHO, there is really not a bad view at OKW.

All the views are good at OKW, however, since there is very 'established' vegetation.....the first floor balconies of the studios(actually more like patios) often have only the view of the vegetation and on some corners of the buildings a view of the airconditioner units for the building.

It's a wonderful resort. Enjoy your vacation

we vacationed in a 1-br at OKW in JUN and it was fantastic! we spent a lot of time on our balcony enjoying the FLA weather. i agree w/the previous poster that warned of 'established vegetation' - even on some of the upper floor units. we were on the top of a 2-story unit and had a couple of large trees blocking our view of the golf course / lake. it was alright, though...we could see enough to know it was there. plus...we were at WDW! how could you be upset about that?? :rotfl:

We have never had a bad view from any of our balconies at OKW. In fact one year, we sat out & got to watch Tiger Woods play through during the Disney Classic. Man that was great!

RE: parking lot views from balcony---you must be thinking of BWV.

I was in building 28 once at OKW and could mostly see only trees which were very close to the balcony (along the golf fairway). It made the room very dark. After that, I requested water view.

We will be staying in a studio at OKW this October so it was great to read these posts.
I do have one question - how big are the balconies at OKW for the studio ?

I disagree with this. While not a bad view some of the studios views at OKW

are blocked by trees and shrubs. We stayed there 3 times and once had a view thruogh trees at golf tee. Other times we view the steps of the building next to us with some view of golf course through trees. We didn't mind we love it anywhere at DVC

if the balconies are the back does this mean each unit has a window in the front for a view? Or does one unit back up against another unit? so some units only have front views and some units only have back views?

Studios do have a front window. The only front-facing window in a 1BR is the frosted one in the bath. :)

The studio balconies are small, not the nice big ones in the 1,2 and 3 bedroom units. If you are in a studio, you will get a better view if you request top floor so you are more above the vegetation. The units along the canal have the least vegetation.

Not all studios have a front window. I was in one in building 35 in April, there was a large mirror where the window would usually be. Actually it worked out for the best, we had 4 women in the room and could use the mirror to dry hair in the morning (plug right below).

no not all OKW studios have a front window

When we stayed we requested a Water view. Just make sure when you request a Water view you make sure they post your room for Water and not just "W". When we arrived we had a Wooded view. When we called they said that the customer Service rep entered our reservation with a "W" instead of Water and "W" means wooded. We were lucky because they had a waterview room available but if they didnt we would have been very disappointed.
