OKW....best room to request?

Dec will be our first time at OKW...we rented from friend of a friend.

We will have a 2 bdrm villa....what should we request?

Also, what if Grandma goes (83 years old) and has an electric wheelchair.....what should we request to accommodate that??
Aren't there only a few bldgs that have an elevator?

There are a few new buildings with elevators, but you could also request ground level. Be very aware that they do not always accommodate guest requests. Our Aunt who went to WDW with us 3 times was in her ninety's and once we got a third floor. She was a strong person, and she was ok with it. The next time that we went I called the resort and made them aware of her age and said that is was imperative that she be on ground floor or elevator. I also called my guide and asked her to call, which may or may not have helped. I then got my request. Good Luck and have a great time with Grandma!!!!!

If you have need for accessible accommodations, make that your first request. Just tell them you have someone in a wheelchair. There are a number of accessible villas at OKW. A few are in the buildings with elevators, but every building has ground level access. Not every building has HCA villas, but there are a sufficient number available to accommodate most needs.

HCA is a request that can usually be guaranteed, so make sure MS is aware of that need when you make the reservation.

You either need to request a handicapped accessible unit or make sure they know that you need an elevator building or a ground floor unit due to someone being in a wheelchair.

The elevtor buildings are 62, 63, 64, I think...or is it 63, 64, 65??? Anyway, they are the buildings with the numbers in the 60's. They are on the right as soon as you come into the main entrance gate. They are located across Peninsular Road from the main area...Hospitality House. Personally no my favorite location, but that's my opinion only. I'm sure there will be folks on here who say that is their favorite area due to proximity ot the HH.

As far as location, I like the Southpoint area. It's not close to the HH, but it is close to a quiet pool & a bus stop. If I were in a wheelchair, I'd request a ground floor room in the Southpoint area.

did you have a wheelchair for her?? If so, and electric, what did you do with it while in the room? I can't imagine you would want to carry it up the stairs and I wouldn't want to leave it out down stairs, right??

If you need a totally wheelchair accessible villa, that is guaranteed if you request it.

If you need first floor or one of the elevator buildings, ask for that as a medical request. It should be listed on your confirmation sheet with language with something about medical needs. They fill those requests before filling general requests for the same thing. If you ask for "first floor or elevator building," for medical needs, you will pretty much always get it.

Yep, three times we requested ground floor/elevator for my mil who was late 60's but undergoing chemo and our request was granted each time. We specified we needed ground/elevator for medical reasons.

BTW, anytime you make requests for medical reasons, they bend over backwards to make sure you get them.
